it's fine for static images in good light. af leaves something to be desired in low light or AI servo. a few weeks back i posted 1 image of an eagle in flight, that was because it was the only decent photo out of the sequence.

Can you elaborate on the AF issues you're having in low light? I don't find it any worse than any other f/6.3 lens, given the limitations of the camera bodies themselves. The AI Servo (BIF) issues are another matter. I'm on average getting 1 to 3 shots out of a sequence of 10 images. This is certainly below the 7 to 9 images out of 10, I get with the 300mm f/2.8. But it hardly seems fair comparing a f/2.8 lens to a f/6.3 lens (or $7,000 to $1,200 lens).

Seeing all this. All of us on the Nikon side are going to have to see how this plays out when we get ours for af-c. if nothing else at least I have and f-4 300mm prime that would give me 600mm with a 2x tc. Does hope it works out though

Hi Jeff, I have found the AF to be lacking, especially at 600mm, especially with lower contrast subjects like my red dobie.

more coming soon!

My first Robin of the year in my back yard plus a house finch, both taken with 150-600 mm @600mm. Just playing around this morning. So far, I'm plenty happy with the lens for what I use it for.

I haven't had time to do that yet, but it was very good out of the box.

I may try to do it this weekend.

Very nice images, dsr1. Any micro adjustments for your lens/body combination?

I did a -2 adjustment ar 600 mm. Actually I'm thinking about doing the adjustment again just ti double check. I've seen some images that are a lot sharper than mine.

Got mine today!

AI Servo on 5D3 works on ALL points, also the side ones.

AF seems fine even now: 1h before dark, very grey day, shooting grey pidgeons.

I can't comment on tracking because of my (poor) skill.

So what do you store your Tamron lens in since it doesnt come with a fitted bag like Canon's lenses do?

just your regular camera bag?

See Page 12 of this thread. LowePro 13x32 lens case is recommended.

Just wondering at what distance you did MA ?
On my 35-350 at about 300 mm - 20 feet +4 , at 60 feet +8 but the lens is 20 + years and using a 7 D .
