Michiel - your image of neon at night is ruining my vision of Europe! Burger King? Egads!

We hope to spend most of our time this summer in less travelled areas to avoid such places.

Forgot to add (edited to correct) that polarizer was used. But yes, light is extreme crappy in quality and in quantity the normal is f/2, 1s, ISO 100 with polarizer, and that is at midday when it's brightest.

FE55 does pretty well in similar conditions considering it's only 0.5 stops from wide open and has 30mm shorter focal length (tripod was moved little closer and half meter right, but equal framing wasn't the goal, just to get framing I liked). Don't compare too much, light was much worse on FE55 shot (e.g. WB is 1500K higher to get even close to same colors). Love both lenses.

"Twist Dancer #1" - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 ZE @ f/2.2, 0.8s, ISO 100@A7, polarizer

"Twist Dancer #2" - Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 1.8/55 ZE @ f/2.2, 0.8s, ISO 100@A7, polarizer

Hi Samuli,

Just a question on your Twist Dancer images, was the tree struck by lightning?

No, storm (=wind) damage - there were big spruce on right, against which this tree was leaning.

In old forest, which are in their natural state one can find many "interesting" things compared to homogeneous (all trees exactly same age and same species) forests modified for logging industry purposes. Most people have never even seen forests in it's natural state, they are very rare.

As long as you don't say it was due to shutter shock.

Thanks Samuli, for the damage clarification and it is indeed a great pity more people aren't aware of the scarcity and beauty of old growth forests.

thank you all for sharing!

For those of you shooting with the sony 35mm FE, have you had issues with flares and bouncing reflections? I came across this:

http://dearsusans.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/spotty-flaw-in-zeiss-fe-35-28-za-sony-a7r-combo/

which cooled my jets as I was ready to nab that lens. Shooting in the sun/sun reflecting is something that I do a bit.

Thanks for sharing the images. I am planning to rent an A7 to see how it stacks up against my 5D MKII. I want a camera with excellent image quality and is responsive. My experience with a Fuji XE2 left me undecided about the Fuji line. So the Sony A7 is about my only other choice.

Do you notice any lag when taking a picture? Is the A7 and the A7R responsive?
