Thanks and yes. It is big though slightly smaller compared to ZE/ZF's counterparts. And of course bulky compared to e.g. the (slower) ZM-line. But it is not big compared to eg the kit zoom. But it adds weight.
Regardless, those biggish CYs were originally made for smaller cameras than the A7. If you put them on a Contax S2, the Sony A7 looks big - and the lens normal. In the hands with an A7 it is a pleasant experience, very balanced.
With them, you will add pointing and balancing to your left hand operations. Not like with a small lens where the right hand is the sole pointing and balancing device while two fingers from the left hand fiddles with the focus ring. That's one reason why the bigger CY's have a generous focus ring to enable a real grip. Not like modern lenses where that is long forgotten.
One may also note that the old SLRs seldom had grips, you held them with the lens too.
And of course they look cool

To date, I've been using the A7R with the Zeiss 15mm distagon. I've been extremely happy with the results and have posted images elsewhere on this forum. Today was the first time I used the 70-200 f2.8 IS on the A7R as I had the 15mm on the 1dx. This Sri Lankan Tamil Tea picker agreed to stop for a photograph and so I whipped the 70-200 on the A7R, shot in manual mode using focus peaking, and got off one shot before he carried on working. Google "Sri Lankan Tea Picker" for the backstory if interested.
A7 with FE 55 1.8, looked like the remains on some sort of party under Aurora bridge here in Seattle - the sequin necklaces were all over the place... strange.
! It doesn't look like it is that cold over there, right? Or is it?
