twoeye, I just made a rubber ring for inside my C/Y adapter to block the internal reflections of the chrome parts of the lensmount. Quiet a few of my favourite C/Y Zeiss lenses have extensive flare problems. My Planar 100/2 is practical not useable.
That's why the Canon FD lenses fare so well because the mount is on top of the adapter.

I don't have my C/Y Zeiss lenses with me now but when I am back in amsterdam I will try them again with the the adapter I made and hope the problems are solved.

Unfortunately I will have to wait for the sensor to be replaced because it's delaminating which might take about 4 months. I have ordered the FE 35 and 55 and if I'm happy with them, I think I will sell the M9 and my ZM lenses. Plenty of time to decide

I certainly hope not! Nice portraits Edward.

One of my favorite lenses for the A7r is definitely the Zeiss ZM 50 Planar.

Thank you Joakim. Indeed it seems to work beautifully with the A7 as your photos above show.

The first one is stunning!

I've seen a few of your images using the C/Y 35/1.4 and I can see why you like it so much. Do you find it sits well on the a7 - it seems quite bulky and heavy even before the adapter. Also Sculptormic notes flare problems with C/Y lenses because of internal reflections from the chromed area of the lens mount. Have you noticed this?

After a month with the camera the largish to large SLR Contax lenses gets increased usage. I am disappointed with most M-mounts on this camera. The longer focale M-mounts (35mm+) can be very good but not as fast. The Contax G 28 is a major disappointment, the G 21 unusable while the G 45 is excellent. But it has to compete with (in my case) the Contax 50/1.4 (smallish) and Rokkor 58/1.2 (large). A really good M-mount is the Voigtländer 35/1.2 (II) but it aint small and I have the Contax 35/1.4 which is probably my favorite lens of all

hi all, considering picking up a ZM 50 f/2 or the native 55 1.8 FE. I'll be using it for portraits, street and landscape work. How is the infinity performance on the 55 FE. Haven't seen any real landscape or distance shots with it, so any inputs would be helpful.

I have the FE 55 but have not had a chance to get out for landscape yet. Anyone do a comparison between it and the ZM 50? A lot of love for the ZM 50 from what I can tell. I got the FE 55 anticipating it would be good for landscapes and, for all its issues at infinity in the corners, I really like the Lux 50 asph at closer distances.

I would recommend against ZM 50 Planar.

I had one for 2 years and used it all the time. I wanted to like it way more than I actually did. It's nicely built, and color is nice as is flare handling, but I think you can spend half as much and get a nicer lens (eg Zuiko 50/2, e55 50mm summicron, 50/1.4 C/Y planar). just my 2c.

Great page everyone!
Phillip, my favorites are the Minolta 35-70 images. I love the images from that lens and you are a master.
Charles, The PP is great!

thanks tsdevine, Luvwine and redisburning.

I already have the e55 50 summicron. Going to skip the ZM50 and perhaps get the FE55 in the future when I have some spare cash.

I have to say that I am amazed at the superb resolution I am getting with all my ZM lenses. The ZM 50 seems to be the best of the bunch, with the 85 having some flare issues with the A7 sensor, and the 35 and 25 having weak corners.

The only reason why I want to get the FE 35 and 55 is because of AF. Even though magnified view is very accurate, most of what I do these days is street and people and these subjects are not very patient for magnified view. I can normally focus with a RF in less than a second, but it takes me 3-5 seconds to focus in magnified mode. I find that I am missing a lot of important shots due to inaccurate focus in normal view, or too slow focus in magnified view.

If the FE 35 and 55 perform as good as the ZM, which are superb, I will be very happy.
