Gregg, if u have a chance would u compare your Minolta 35-70 macro to your Leica R 35-70. I remember there is one person on the forum who preferred the Leica R, but I think he said he liked it better, but not by much??

That Could have been me, my copy of the Minolta 35-70/3.4 macro was a dud I think, it never got real sharp, I sold it and tried a Leica R 35-70/3.4 which is orders of magnitudes better, though it's MFD is not so great @1m.
I believe the f4 version is better than the f3.4 version, but I too would love to see a comparison.
White Balance gets a lot of discussion, but I find the AWB a good start, in general. Maybe one in 40 images causes trouble, usually with different sources bouncing around. Here the young guy with the 'fist full of dollars' is typical of Tibetan youngsters, they have stronger skin tones than adults. FE55 / a7r.
