The complex summits of Mount Shishapangma, the only '8000er' located entirely in Tibetan territory - the others are part of the border with Nepal. I had just ten minutes before frostbite could set in, almost fell over a few times in the gale. The 'tarchoks' (a.k.a. wind horses) start out as small flags seen at the bottom of this image, but the huge winds tear the exposed ones apart in short time. The Tibetans simply put more of them on the anchor poles. Hand held, a tripod would have sailed away in the gale. 1/1000s to try to stop the action.
Second image is the town most travelers use to acclimatise for two days - Nyalam at 3800m, raptors overhead.

The ice caves along the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore were recently opened by the NPS. I took Monday off and spent the day there alone, hiking 14 miles and taking quite a few photos. The Olympus OM 24mm f/2.8 spent the most time on my camera. I'll probably post more of these later, but here area few of my favorites.
