Damn winter, light has been really poor. Saturday almost needed wired remote since correct exposure @ ISO 100 was close to 30s @ f/11. This was the brightest moment of the day, cloud coverage was at least thick enough...

Images taken with Lens. Comp. -> Shading. Comp turned to "Auto".

Sony FE35 @ f/11, 15s, ISO, CZ T* pol

Sony FE35 @ f/11, 15s, ISO, CZ T* pol

Sony FE35 @ f/11, 30s, ISO, CZ T* pol

FE35 will be quite good landscape lens. However I find depth of field very shallow compared to for example Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2/35 ZE/ZF. This may give extra challenges to landscape photography, or can be used as benefit in form of having background of landscape to have some boke blur and contrast loss. Also @ f/11 the cross-eyed boke is no longer there, and boke quality is very good, even in corners.

Samuli

EDIT: corrected shutter speed of 3rd image, added text about using Lens. Comp. -> Shading. Comp.

Hmm, order is incorrect from what I wrote. Third is ZM 50 Planar and second and last is 35 Summilux.

Ohh don't worry, we figured that out.

Bob, how was the autofocus and manual focus on 0F?

I envy your light, f/9 & 1/100s & ISO 100...can only dream of so much light. Was the 2nd picture (f/9, dog, white snow, some trees) exposure adjusted on post or did the exposure meter compensate so well for snow (from EXIF I can see you used Program mode and -0.3EV)? If I would have shoot I would have used +0.66EV on 5DmkII [A7 is too new that I haven't fully figured out how the exposure works]

Thanks! I was wondering if anyone would notice I considered doing a selective color version so that it's more obvious but decided against it to keep the concept subtle.

Good decision (IMHO, of course). The selective color possibly would lower the "visibility" of the nice diagonal lines (from bottom left side to the top right side).

Hi guys, thank you for your kind words.

I used a Metabones adapter on those shots. Really, so far it is the only adapter that doesn't have any alignment issue. As I mentioned in a thread on the Canon board, your results, especially using wide angle lenses on the corners/edge will depend on the alignment of the adapter towards the sensor. Something that we take for granted using native lenses on Canon or Nikon bodies. In that case, one side is blurry and even if you stopped down it does't get much better. I ordered my third Leica M to Sony E adapter; the first two have alignment issues, one is not that bad and the other one is worse. The worse offenders I have experienced are both Canon adapters, both EF and FD adapters . Previously, I considered getting a few more adapters for different mounts but considering the alignment issues, I would be happy to get a perfectly aligned adapter for my Leica M lenses.

BTW, Fred noticed different performance on his more than one Metabones adapters. The problem doesn't seem to be a brand related matter but it seems to vary from batch to batch .

Well, it looks like a really good copy, and it was put to great use with a great lens. So kudos and thanks for the info.

^wow that is dreamy--I have GOT to get a 50mm .95 setup. I'm considering the SLR Magic Nokton or possibly the new Handevision lens coming out for FE mount.

Samuli, today's light was fortunate but otherwise there have been many cloudy days. While I purposefully under exposed by 0.3. In post, I added .55 in exposure and brought down highlights almost as far as it could. I was shooting in program mode with -0.3 in order to see how the camera would meter and handle snow. This way, I can understand the camera lens combination and adjust from there. I would have likely shot this at something like f/5.6-8 normally. Here's the image with those sliders back at Zero.

Saw the first image and thought… looks like where I live! I then checked your avatar and smiled… Was -5 F in Two Harbors and brutally windy by Lake Superior. By the time I got home we warmed up to a whopping 4 deg F!

I love the details in your first shot! Do your have the 35mm f2.8? I think I'd like to do some landscape work with this and the A7r.

cheers from Stillwater,
bruce
