I like Olympus OM lenses for their small size, excellent built quality and high, even sharpness across the frame.Their multicoating however leaves a lot to be desired sometimes.
Hello everyone... always following and find inspiration from this fantastic thread that contains some real masterpieces. Finally I have new pictures to post... but no new lenses. Enjoy!
Sorry to post a set of dog pictures, but it's a dog sort of day here in Calgary with snow and cold temps keeping me inside all weekend. These are both from the Olympus OM 50mm f/1.2 wide open at f/1.2.

@Gregg, The last pic of your son has every kinda glow from lens they talk about. One to print large and frame it.
I am in pursuit of best fast 50 (1.2-1.4). I have been thinking that I should just get summilux 50 asph. It's more expensive then probably all the good 50ish lens all together (zuiko 50 1.2, rokkor 58 1.2, cannon 55 1.2 asph and L). So the confusion. 35 summicron on a7 does feel great and just feels like lens sized for a7. Does anyone have some input. And, it may help GAS of I just buy the most expensive one believing its the best available (in my limit)....Show more →
If you had not qualified that it should be f1.4 or faster, I'd have recommended the APO Cron .
Fun aside for a moment, having pondered the Lux ASPH myself at one point (albeit very briefly), I asked around quite a bit back then. Mind you, I'm using an a7r (your a7 may work better with the Lux than the a7r), but the conclusion was something like this: It works fine on the a7r as long as you can accept some purple tint in the corners and don't plan to use it as a landscape lens. I suppose you're looking to use the Lux wide-open, so the latter point is moot, but may be those who actually use the Lux on the a7 can elaborate on the color cast issue.
In addition to the Nokton Gregg's mentioned before, may I suggest the C Sonnar (assuming you can live with f1.5)? It is a pretty controversial piece of glass in the world of m-lenses (in no small part due to the focus shift issue), but in the right hands it is capable of producing wonderful results (assuming one likes that more classic character when shooting widen open).
Gregg: I've got to say, the Mitakon looks pretty impressive wide open. Great portrait, too.
jfreak, I posted asking something pretty similar two or three pages back. Leica's are a bit out of my budget, so I'm personally trying to decide between the C/Y mount Zeiss Planar T* 50/1.4 and the Minolta 58/1.2. I'm leaning toward the Minolta, but the one on KEH sold, so I'm still looking around. I plan on using it as a walk around lens, and capture a bit of everything (portraits, landscapes, some architecture). The Mitakon looks really impressive, but it's a bit out of my price range...
Question for everyone: what settings do you use for colors? I'm using auto WB, and the landscape creative style, but I can't get skin tones right. They almost always end up too pale, and the subject looks under the weather, which isn't exactly flattering...
And, of course, pictures! These are from a hike yesterday. I ended up mostly taking portraits, but tried to get some just of the fall colors. Of course, when we got to the top of the mountain you couldn't see anything due to the cloudy weather...
A7 + Contax Sonnar T* 135/2.8 @ 2.8
A7 + Konica AR 40/1.8 @ 2.8 (possibly 1.8, I can't recall)

I usually use auto WB, but then adjust WB settings and color profiles in ACR. There is a camera portrait style setting in there, too. Have you tried that one already?
Re too pale: In fact, I have the opposite problem. Granted I hardly ever photograph people, so I wouldn't know about skin tones, but the landscape creative style setting provides a huge color pop (even more so than your average CV lens). Sometimes this work, but often I find it too extreme.
I'm sorry, but I can't help you with your lens question, since I haven't used either the Planar nor the Minolta, but I've only heard (very) good things about the Minolta.
Chris, I'm current stuck using the Sony IDC (RAW -> TIFF), and Windows Photo app (simple, quick light corrections) followed by the GIMP (for anything more complicated). I'd like to move up to Lightroom or Photoshop, but it's not in the budget, and likely won't be for a while. I tend towards Landscape as it seems slightly warmer, but I may switch back to standard and see if that helps.
@ lonleyppl, I have the same problem, summilux is just very expensive but I lust for it. I have canon 50 ZE f/1.4 and MP. The MP at f2 is just amazingly sharp. Sharper than ZE 1.4 and also Zuiko 50 f/1.2. I have been looking at rokkor 58, canon FD 50L and even 55 1.2 ASPH. All these are together less then the summilux. But the lust....
@Chris_88, thanks for your input on lux 50. It may seem silly but I take pictures of kids mostly and after day is over, in side I shoot any lens wide open.I miss the focus on many but still its rewarding. From what I have read the lux is simply very good at 1.4. I never did before, but I have , for reason or not, feels something is special in M lens in the picture. Damn, my wife is correct very often when she says "is this from leica?".
@Vern Dewit, very nice at 1.2. Would love to hear your feeling about zuiko 50 1.2. Not many with this lens here..
I feel the zuiko is good but it does not wow me often. Unfortunately Leica 35 and 75 often do and hence the lust just keep getting stronger....and on weekend it gets worse.
