The Ruhr River near the quaint town of Wetter an der Ruhr. The initial photograph was captured just prior to sunrise, while the second was taken shortly after dawn:
Drove 240 miles to Long Island, NY to watch the airshowon Saturday, tremendous lineup this year but the light was just horrible. It was backlit and cloudy most of the time. I didn't even bother to keep one single shot from the F-35C and the EA-18G Growler 2-Ship Demo. The highlights for me were the US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet Rhino Demonstration Team, the F-35B and B-29 Doc. Such a treat to see one of the only two airworthy B-29s flying.

Went to Arlington National Cemetery and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial this morning, very gloomy weather, the right mood for the occasion. I never figured out where the "Happy" in "Happy Memorial Day" came from.
Memorial Day weekend and Christmas (with the wreaths) are my favorite time to photograph ANC. All these were taken outside the fence. I didn't have time to enter the cemetery's property.

Very appropriate today, and you're right, happy and memorial just don't fit together. I feel the solemn mood and it gives me a feeling of gratitude looking at the photos. Thanks, Douglas.
Out for a hike a couple days ago along this scenic mountain creek. My favorite time of the year to capture flowing water with the lush green foliage and when the runoff flow is not too strong. I've been working on some recipes in Lightroom to get a similar look to Fuji Velvia slide film that I used to use many years ago and I think these come pretty close.
