No den for this guy, just a slight depression in the snow would do... The fur seems to provide plenty of insulation. The snow under this guy doesn't melt and the fox doesn't seem to suffer from cold at all.

Edit: changed "tiny cups" to "Lachnum species" according to Harold's recommendation. I did identify them as Lachnum spec. on my Flickr post, but unfortunately there does not seem to be a more colloquial term for them in English (in German there is).

Hallstatt. An iconic place. Old salt mining town in the middle of Austria. It has it`s spots you cannot go past without taking a picture. But lately it sure is far from a place one would enjoy visiting, far too many tourists - even in the dead of winter as in our case, but one shouldn`t complain too much since we were there crowding with others
