My first bird picture of 2024 happened to be this gorgeous Cactus Wren which perched in front of me while visiting Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ during the last leg of our holiday road trip through Antelope and Grand Canyons and the Red Rock country...

The first image from CR today and unexpectedly, not a hummingbird - this owl was well hidden in the bamboo forest. It was only edited in LR for iPad. This is the first time that I left my MBP for editing purposes home to travel lighter and with less gear. BTW, bamboos are not native to CR but they thrive well here.
A couple of images of ice from November and the end of December 2023. (It's been a pretty wintery winter here in the northern hemisphere so far this year, same for people in the States and Canada I guess?)

No light beams in this season but still magnificent, and the tour companies seem to be doing a fair job managing the crowds...
