For some time, I've had this Zeiss Opton 50/1.5 lens. It's made with a Contax mount. To use it on my Sony, I have it adapted to fit the Voigtlander Helicoid which is how the lens is focused. From the serial number, the lens was manufactured in 1930. I decided to mount the lens today, which I have done in the past, but it's been quite some time.

Wide open the lens is quite glowy. I have one example below. Stopped down, the lens is quite nice. I like the rendering and the lens is pretty sharp. I've played with running some images through Topaz Photo AI which can sharpen images up quite nicely. So, here are some examples from today.

Thanks rji2goleez, very nice images.
May I suggest the second image motif-wise is a great fit for that lens.

Thanks so much Karl-Heinz . . . and you are so right! I've photographed the exercise bike so many times but perhaps it needed to be photographed by a lens from 1930! -Bob

This is Gyantse Dzong, the fort stormed by the British in 1904, as part of the 'great game' against Russian influence. It was faithfully rebuilt at a later date. Shot with a CY 100/3.5. I'd really like an (imaginary) Voigtlander 100/2 APO for this detailed kind of shot.

"Freiherr Ondulatius Mangalicus de Swyn zu Speck und Schmalz von Schweinburg in Schlesien" explanation:

"Świnka" is the surname of a Silesian noble family of Slavic origin that emerged from the darkness of history around the 11th century. In the 13th century, their surname was written in Latin documents "de Swyn". In the 14th century, representatives of this family lived and often made their careers either in Silesia , where over time their surname changed to the German "von Schweinichen" or in the Kingdom of Poland, where they still had the surname "Świnka". In medieval Polish, "Świnka" meant a wild boar. In today's language, a small pig. In German, "schwein" means a pig.The seat of the Świnka/von Schwinichen family is the still existing picturesque ruins of the medieval castle in Świny/Schweinburg near Jelenia Góra/Hirschberg in Lower Silesia.

This is my joke on the subject. Quite complex in terms of associations related to the entire title. But in short I created a character of a medieval noble pig for fun basing on imagination, associations and historical knowledge.

"Freiherr" is the lowest and one of the oldest German aristocratic titles corresponding to baron, lower than graf (count)

"Ondulatius" is for curly haired.Common feature in pigs bred in the Middle Ages. "Mangalicus" is again a Latinized adjective derived from the name of an old breed of Hungarian curly-haired pig called "mangalica",existing today

"zu Speck und Schmalz" ,(from Bacon and Lard for non german speakers), to make it even funnier and for the purpose of similarity to the long title of a nobleman from the medieval German Reich

"von Schweinburg in Schlesien" - from Schweinburg in Silesia

Below is The Freiherr Ondulatius Mangalicus de Swyn zu Speck und Schmalz von Schweinburg in Schlesien in his armour and with his sword.Sadly without his helmet, stolen and hidden somewhere by one of my cats.
