Thank you Joshua! We got home on Sat. At the Lisbon airport when we were leaving, there were only 2 customs officers checking passports of hundreds or even thousands of departing passengers, I was told the customs union were on strike! People were panicking and more than a few were cutting in lines. Most of the passengers on our flight were late so the pilot waited for us.
BTW, we did try the egg tart at Pastéis de Belém, they were delicious!

Thank you! I wasn't sure if I wanted to bring the IR camera with me, in addition to the other cameras I was going to bring. I figured most of the pictures I would be taking would be taken in harsh daylight, so an IR camera could be fun. I was glad I brought it with me.
Stopped by a small ancient town called "Obidos" around noon time to walk around, no golden light to speak of, but it's a charming town, lots of tourists though. Here are some shots in Ir and color from Obidos.

Very impressive images, Doug! I planned a lot before the trip but similar to your situation, while in Holland where I spent plenty days, I ended up going to the same location more than once. For sure, I understand about being too lazy to explore other locations while on travel.

Where do I buy a postcard of that last one?
It's always funny how you always find crummy postcards from the 90s in most tourist shops but nothing good like this! This was taken from the church right? On top of the hill? My wife and I should be heading back to Portugal in November.
Canadian wildfires are creating a hazy sunset with the sun becoming a bright red ball in the sky. While this is pretty cool looking, I still prefer clouds in my sunsets.

Dramatic shot, Bob! I have been wondering why the sunrise and sunset have been like this in our arer in the last couple days. When I was shooting the Blue Angels yesterday it was sunny with no clouds but the sky was just not blue. This may explains it.

These two were taken in a different morning from those posted previously, notice there was a naval vessel docking in the river.
The building at the lower left corner of the pictures is the Vincci Ponte de Ferro hotel where we stayed. I found the location was just perfect for our needs. The main entrance of the hotel is 5 meters from the upper deck of the bridge, from the hotel we could take an elevator to go down to the back door which is a 1-minute walk to the lower deck of the bridge.
From the main entrance of the hotel next to the upper deck of the bridge, it's a very short walk (but uphill, maybe 5/6 stories high?) to the viewing area of Miradouro da Serra do Pilar, adjacent to the huge monastery (Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar). From there the view of the bridge and the city is very commanding, perfect for me. I was the only one there for sunrise in all three mornings, sunset was busier, but nothing like the other popular sunset spots. I got there an hour before the sunset time to have the best spot.
