Yes, of some sort and quite a few game drives will be on private land, where you can get fairly close to the subject and they are significantly larger than birds. I will have my 200-600mm lens and even the 70-200mm lens with me on this trip. Some game drives will last into the evening. So, a faster but yet shorter FL lens would be more desirable. For sure, there will be less bird on this trip. We will see how it will pan out. Thanks!

I can mount a TC on that lens, too, like here for some bird action. The IQ is still excellent, I would say.

I have a internetfriend that use the 400 GM and he use also it with TC 1.4 plenty with great performance.. a very nice lens

Trying out a new to me lens in preparation for a big trip in September…
I spent over 2 hours and these owls, they were 2 of them, and none of them did fly at all, they just lounging around at the burrow. Oh, well
