Back then I think I had a Canon P&S pocket camera, got a Nikon D40 in 2007, and my first Sony camera, an NEX-5N IIRC in 2013 so that I finally had a camera I could use my recently acquired Leica-R APO 280/4 lens on that I developed an interest in and bought long after Leica gave up on that product line. In fact the Sony A7R was the first FF camera I used the 280/4 on. And surprise, surprise I discovered to my amazement that this particular camera/lens combination exhibited very pronounced shutter shock. Oh well.
Indeed, Sony has come a long way. They need to come a bit further to resolve the aggravating EVF/Eye sensor issue on their flagship A1 that otherwise is an extremely desirable camera for my shooting interests.
Many thanks K-H, looking back in time (G'Dpi) I think we both took the same Sony journey with Nex cameras followed by Pre-ordering the FF A7R from day one.
We both used our Leica M and R lenses with an adapter, as only 2 native lenses to choose from!...I picked up the 55mm f1.8 Zony and if I remember correctly you picked up the 35mm f2.8 Zony

Many thanks Barry. Your exceptional 50 GM images tell me that sooner rather than later a copy of that lens will find its way to one of my Sony cameras.
You are correct. I still have my first native Sony FE lens, the 35mm f2.8 Zony, and my second one, the 55mm f1.8 Zony. Indeed, those were the only two available at the time. Both of them served double duty on my Sony FF and APS-C cameras. Only very recently joined by the third native lens in this focal range, namely the 35 GM, that appeals to me a lot already.

Thank you very much, Douglas! When I was in Ecuador the first time around in late 2019, the racket tails were not fully developed yet. I am glad that I had the opportunity to see and photograph that bird in adulthood… finally.
