How cruel, to see these delicious pasteries before breakfast!

Terrific photos and lighting, Omer. Would you mind telling the technical details such as lens, camera, exposure, etc.?

We had a terrific dinner at the Tokeland Hotel, and took a little jaunt around its grounds before nightfall. Quite a magical time, with the clouds scudding away from us on all sides as the sun set over the ocean on one side and the moon rising over North Cove on the other side of this narrow peninsula.

Jim ,

Your beautifull wife looks great and I really appreciate that you placed that picutes.

Helena.

I am not a telling person, nor am I inclined to express admiration easily, but this time I feel that I shouldn't hold back any more.

You can turn a landscape, even one with a rusting truck, into something beautiful and eye-catching.

Chapeau bass! Again!

This time I will start the presentation from a photo with a story.

The first photo shows an unexploded Soviet missile fired from a 152mm howitzer, about 23km away, stuck in the wall of the largest gothic cathedral in my city, which happily didn't explode.

It is left like this in memory, but if you look closely at the brick drawing, you will soon find that above the point of impact the wall has collapsed anyway.

In fact, the entire 1,000-year-old cathedral turned to ruin.Only two side chapels remained, almost untouched in the midst of a sea of ruins.

Unfortunately, hundreds of other similar missiles from Soviet long-range howitzers as well as hundreds of bombs from Soviet planes exploded and turned the historical center of my beloved city into a sea of burning ruins.

Witnesses of those days, and it was The Easter Sunday and Monday,April 1-2, 1945, speak of a sea of fire, piles of corpses and thick, black smoke over the entire Ostrów Tumski / Dominsel - the oldest place of my city, where the cathedral was erected.

And so, over a thousand years oldest part of my beloved city- Wrocław /Breslau /Vratislavia / Vrotizla / Wretsla/Pressla whichever of the engaged nations are considered - Poles,Germans,Czechs - would like to name it ,turned into a sea of ruins and ash.

Lots of innocent people died then.

Many of them were doctors, lawyers, composers, architects - men of good will, useful in society.

Yet they died, killed, in a senseless orgy of killing, fire and destruction.

And there was nothing one could do about it!!!

Thank you, Peire! Yes, our amazing spouses have a history of suffering through our obsessions with photography. Coming up on 45 years, and I'm so grateful to find someone of such tolerance and love. Mine also has had to put up with my passion for painting, as well as competitive marksmanship and the weekend travel it often involves. The only passion that ever made me any real money was the photography, although the others nearly pay for themselves through sales or prizes.

It's tough being an artist, but tougher still to be the spouse of one!

Our favourite drink this summer was mangonada, made with mangoes, lime juice, a bit of sugar, and a bit of chamoy sauce, sprinkled with tajín. Rum or tequila optional; we often drank it without alcohol for dessert. Incredibly delicious and refreshing, and gorgeous to look at.
