Hi Helena,

Very nice images. What are the purpose of the trees being held up together in several of the images from Norway and Sweden? They almost look like the frame for a Teepee used by some of the western United States Native Americans.

Thank you Rich! Yes, the constructions are frames for "tents". They are built by the Sámi people (previously called Lapps or Laplanders); an indigenous people inhabiting northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula in Russia. They are the ones who own the semi-wild reindeers I have posted photos of here before. If you are interested you can read about them here:

A couple shots of with my wife, Terry.

We had a terrific dinner at the Tokeland Hotel, and took a little jaunt around its grounds before nightfall. Quite a magical time, with the clouds scudding away from us on all sides as the sun set over the ocean on one side and the moon rising over North Cove on the other side of this narrow peninsula.

So I have noticed that some of the contributors on this site, especially those that shoot birds, have been using Topaz DeNoise in their post processing workflow. I know Joshua does. I have admired the finish on their images. They seem to be able to maintain detail in the subject, while having smooth low noise backgrounds, even at some fairly high ISOs.

So, I decided to give DeNoise a test with the free trial. So far I am very impressed. This is my first image edited using DeNoise. I did the Auto AI Noise, and then tweaked a bit. I imagine I will get even better results after learning the tool better. Seems like a very worthwhile tool.

Any hints from the experts would be appreciated.

This is an image of "Dave", who is one of the Rufous Hummingbirds that frequent my backyard feeder.

Dave is lovely Steve, nicely done. Try AI clear, and compare to AI Denoise. I find that most times I prefer AI Clear.

This is my first year chasing fall color here in Colorado. Last year we moved at the end of October. Today I took my family into the mountains doing a big loop stopping a few times for some hiking. I managed to take a few handheld shots while not wearing my wife's patience thin. The drive was so beautiful and we all had a great time exploring but also avoiding the heavy crowds.

I stood on this pedestrian bridge to get this shot of the stream with a nice grouping of Aspen trees with nice fall color. Single shot with no filters. Yes the water did have a nice cyan tint to it in the field.

Steve, I am not an expert but yes, I run most of my files, for sure those of wildlife/birds, through Topaz Denoise AI. To be honest, I run it at the default setting and let the AI do the work. Here is the trick and supposedly Ronny Olsson is doing the same process. I use LR to do whatever adjustment I need, except for the sharpening and noise. I then either leave the default setting of Denoise or reduce the sharpening a little. In other words, I am relying on Topaz to do the sharpening in addition to reducing the noise. I believe the sharpening done this way is more pleasing, plenty sharp to show feather details without being overly sharp.

Dave, your pet hummingbird is lovely!

Here is an image from earlier in the year. The lighting conditions were not great and I needed the shutter speed to freeze the movement... I do not hesitate to go up to ISO 12800 but I do take ISO 6400 in this case. Similar images were posted previously but for sure not this one.
