I believe 1600 is indeed a good option.
Mmmmmhh. That's pretty cool, but I want to see the whole post with text and other info. Whatever size Fred just posted (awesome cruise pics) is perfect!

Joshua: That's a perfectly framed and composed bird shot on the previous page. I still haven't found the time to try out the new firmware.
Just got back to So Cal to find a outstanding Zeiss ZE 28mm f2 lens waiting for me, AND the irises are blooming in the front yard -- the favorite flower of my wife!
Just the first two shots with the lens wide open to get a feel for it. So far, I like it quite a bit. Have to look through the rest of the pictures, but wanted to see how these look on the forum. As always, any comments about experience with this lens are appreciated.

Around the Simi Valley neighborhood. So sunny and warm 1000 miles south of Aberdeen!!
Looks like this lens will have place in my collection for a while. Fun learning how to best utilize its "character", but I think it will play into my interests.
Leitz Apo Macro Elmarit R 100/2.8 - the lens worth a tail.....
This lens is still new to me and I try to get to know it in deep. I would like to squeeze the best out of it. And I can easily see that the lens has lots of the very best qualities inside.
Let's make one remark - from several thousands of very different lenses I took photos over the last 30 years with, this one has the most beautiful colour and tonal rendition. At least to my eyes, despite lighting conditions. :-)
Yet I still can not show this in my pictures in a satisfactory way ...arrrgh...!It seemd so simple at the first glance :-(
But I do not lose hope that it will happen soon. This great, unique and magical optical tool deserves it. :-)
