Not world class, but thought I'd share. Bought the Tokina AT-X 24-40/2.8 on a whim a while back. Better than I expected, distortion being the biggest sin. Center is decent at f/2.8, the rest is pretty good at f/4 with decent flare performance and good sharpness. You could do worse in a legacy lens. All the below edited to taste.

40mm @ f/4

~28mm @ f/2.8

~35mm @ f/5.6

24mm @ f/11 - About the worst of the flare.
