A few from a delightful evening out on the water with my wife and step daughter on Tuesday evening. View of the Chilkat mountains from Lynn Canal/Favorite Channel, just north of Juneau, Alaska. Sony A7R2 with 70-200 f/2.8, 100-400 GM and 24-70 f/4 stitched.
I took over 200 images of this owl and its just caught June bug in a little over 20 seconds. I just processed this one, where it playfully pulled the left wing of the bug while its beak was open, almost like drooling. I posted a sequence of 8 images on the N & W board and the version there was similar but the owl's beak was close but the bug was in a better position and more readily visible. Cruel? Well, that's nature, I guess...
Some very awesome grabs this page!
Joshua...timing is everything! Love them all. How does the 100-400 compare @400mm with the 400 2.8ll?
Akclimber...great clouds in that first one!

Hi Gregg,
Thank you and yes, timing is everything. The GM 100-400mm lens is a zoom lens albeit an excellent one at that but it is not a match to the superb Canon 400mm f/2.8 Mark II in term of resolving power and speed and I didn't expect it to be, actually. The Canon lens is big, heavy and difficult to handle without any support. In addition to that, it is in a different price class. Wait until Sony introduces its first prime long lens, then it would be even more expensive than the Canon's counterpart. Mark my words on that . Frankly, if the new Sony lens could be as good as that particular Canon lens, I would be thrilled but not when it comes down to buying it though .
Even after about 3 years with my unconverted/original A7R, I still use it only with third party lenses. 80% of the time with rangefinder lenses to be accurate. And still with my $10 Fotasy M/E adapter piece. Some recent examples:
