Joshua - you're visiting 2 of my favorite spots - I lived in Amsterdam for 2 yrs and Venice was my wkend getaway (much better Nov - April than May - Oct; although this may also be a very crowded season - how bad is it right now?) Very much looking fwd to your photos and experiences!
First really nice wkend here in Chicago. I just bought back the 85GM - had sold it in the Fall in anticipation of a 100mm from Sony but the STF may not suit me, and I felt like I needed to give the 85GM another shot at the title (the 50/1.4 had gotten in the way). So, I took advantage of the current 'deals' from Sony.
A7RII. Foreground: 12mm Voigtlander lens. Sky: Sigma 12-24mm "A" mount lens with adapter at 15mm., To fit the foreground to the sky, the format was changed from 3:2 to 4:3.
Thanks for looking
Dave
Another from the recent trip to Iceland. Most people think this was a crash but it was simply a forced landing. The problem was they couldn't get off anymore
Nice shot of Anne-Sophie at the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo! But you chopped of her peacock head-dress! I am assuming the upper portion is too busy or ugly.
Can't wait to see more of what you've captured!

Hi Eric, this is only the first weekend of the carnival and it was like a madhouse already. The second weekend would be even worse. There are simply too many people right now. I will stay here 2 more days and I will head back to Amsterdam for a few days before heading further north pass the arctic circle. I will post a few images in the meantime. My two favorite lenses for the carnival is the FE 35mm f/1.4 and the FE 85mm f/1.4 GM. I anticipate that these two lenses will do at least 90% of my images during the carnival.

Thanks, Bobby! Luz and i discussed that aspect as well. It is all about hard work here, not all fun, you know, don't you?. At least the weather is better this year compared to last year..
Here is another image of Sophie using the GM 85mm at wide open.
Nice detail shot, but DOF is a little too shallow for my taste ... or for these types of elaborate costume work.
