Thank you guys for your friendly commentary.
On a touristic trip you are always forced to lots of compromises.
One of them is the gear and lenses. Thats of course where the ZE 24-70 shines. It is not a bad bad lens at all, and very useful in lots of situations. If the strong distortion did bother i used Lightroms 5.3 profile to correct (its the profile from Camera Raw RC, extracted and added to LR). But not all pics needed correction.
I printed the first batch of my pics at A2 with the E3800 on Hahnemühle Photorag Bright White, and the prints from the 24/70 look stunning.
Sometimes 24 is not wide enough:
Here is one taken with the fantastic Zeiss ZE 18/3.5 with very good to excellent corners. In this pic sharp corners are mandatory, but many other times they are pure fetishism.
I bought a Vivitar 55/2.8 Macro with the thought that it would be a good starter macro lens for my niece's new E-M5, and I'm confident now that it will be. It's a nice budget macro. It's not as good an all-arounder as some other lenses in it's price range ($30-100 depending on mount and condition) but from 1:3 - 1:1, I'd have a hard time telling it apart from my much more expensive Leica-R 60/2.8.
freaklikeme, really like that Hatchling shot! Some vivitar lenses are indeed very good. I have a 28mm Vivitar lens which is quite sharp and has a nice character. The problem usually is that you never know what you're getting.
Hi Michiel,
nice to see you posting again, was already missing you (at the other forum as well, o/c).
Great capture with fabulous colors in that one, besides the beautiful painting.
Two more images of human interest touch from that special visit to Bali. The first one had to be cropped since the longest lens I had didn't get me enough reach but the resolving power of the camera still gave me sufficient oomph to render the image just fine, even for enlargement.

I was abroad on "self-assignment" for a few weeks and couldn't follow this thread on a regular bases. So, after coming back I did some catch-up and I must say that great images were posted in the last several pages.
While abroad, I had the opportunity to capture images of Bali, a wonderful, paradise-like island in Indonesia. They were taken in a remote village and not easily accessible places where typical tourists do not visit. For various reasons, I had to use my DSLR system more on this trip hence the limited variety of images (e.g. sunset captures of Balinese dancers, rituals at a waterfall, etc. had to be excluded on this post)....Show more →
Amazing shots Joshua. The last one is exceptional. (Getting his rooster ready for a cockfight)
