Herma102, these images are great. I especially love the first one.

Your post processing on that first image is especially good -- love the colors & the crystalline quality. Are there any particular techniques you use in post processing / downsizing for the web etc. that yields these results?

Thanks for the kind words. My process is as follows:

Edit the raw file in Adobe Camera Raw 8.3.
Open in Photoshop and I use the Nik Collection by Google. Specifically for that photo, I used Tonal Contrast in Color Effects 4 to bring out the detail/contrast in the highlights.
I resize the image using Perfect Effects Resize 8 and sharpen using Nik Effects output sharpening.

Here is another I finished editing:

I am new to this forum and am amazed at the quality of images that are being posted. This is an valuable community of photographers and I look forward to learning from everyone.

Frank,
The Samyang that you are using looks like it produces a great image, any smearing that seemed to be problem with other wide angles?
As well, I notice that BHphoto has an E mount cine and slr 14mm Samyang. Are you using one of those to mount directly onto the camera or are you using an adapter with non-native mount?
Thanks

dovey, no smearing as per A7 definition (as is the case with all those short flange WA lenses..). But it is an extreme WA and those (always) come with issues regardless of mount and sensor. I've used a couple of 12mm equiv FF lenses (on FF and crop) and disregarding mustache distortion the Samyang tops whatever I tried. The lens is huge and doesnt really fit A7 but I know of no other options giving similar performance so I'll bite the dust for a while.

AFAIAC it tops the lot as of now. Here are a few more BW's NIK Silver Efex.

A7 + Samyang 14/2.8. Handheld, 2nd image at 1/8 sec lucky shot one of three. ISO 800.

OK, not an artistic photo, but a cool shot of a local Bobcat hunting in the Marin Headlands this morning. Pixel level, a7, Canon FD 80-200 L. The ancient FD is a pretty sharp lens...

Amazing Otus quality on that ice rink image. I've been scared to look at the Otus thread

Anyway, here's one from the front seat of the car, stopped at a red light. ISO 6400 in the deep twilight.

CY Zeiss 135mm f2.8 on A7R.

The first shot is amazing! I love how the light is diffused and somehow at the same time glistens through the trees.

Thank you! I saw it at the first run down the piste and then i went again and sat behind the snow machine to get that diffused light.

And then a fellow skier almost run me over... hehe

Very nice phots. I like the piping work in those buildings, everything just goes straight in the river. Efficient.
