It affects light transmission in the center only and doesn't affect metering at all (camera will read identical exposure between that and wide open just with a slightly darker center), however it improves performance a lot! TY, I thought that little dot is called F/1.4 You are right, though, I had no need to shoot it wide open in those conditions. It's a sharp lens all the way to f/8, and one of the great legacy values
