Nicola, my opinion is "limited" because I'm new in macro photography and FE 90 has been my first and only macro lens so any comparison is possible. It is big but not so heavy and is well balanced on A7. Autofocus on A7R is slow but for macro I use lens only in manual so it is not relevant for me. Manual focus is good... of course it is different from a mechanic lens but acceptable; I had few times jammed focus problem and I think I have to make a firmware update on my camera (I'm still on FW v.1.01 ) --> switch off and on and problem disappears... Bill Gates rule My choice was also because this is 1:1 macro lens. Image Quality is simply outstanding... to my eyes is really impressive. Here some examples http://particolarivisioni.com/macro-close_up/
If you want more info, feel free to contact me via PM.

I like to carry my GR and the A7 with a short tele when hiking.
I've found the Leica 90 Elmarit-M at a very good price but would like more close focus reach.
This shot is an example of the elmarit mounted on helicoid (a bee sucking nectar on a flower in mid-November at 2000 meters, impressive)
Ronny:
How do you feel your 100 Macro Planar in hand on the A7 (first generation) sony?
Does the Contax version be smaller or lighter in comparison with the ZF Nikon?
Someone in the forum could also share his experience with the 90 macro G sony?
Thanks
