Thanks again for your comments. I'm trying to unfreeze my fingers (we finally got winter) after shooting all the aperture series after that I'll start to import today's test photos. I did focus ZE-Planar focus shift compensated as I have always done (focused at shooting aperture until f/2.8, then used the f/2.8 focus until f/16). And G-Planar f/2 with f/2, and checked focus f/2.8 but most cased didn't notice focus shift, if I wasn't sure I re-focused with f/2.8 and then shot rest of the aperture series with f/2 or f/2.8 focus. Great Set robsonj Love the B&W ones
Mr. Reeve: Great as usual!

Finally had 30 minutes to go out alone today with the camera. (with a 1 month old and a 2 year old time is hard to come by)

A7 and FE 55 1.8 around the neighbourhood.
This is a color set, will upload a B&W set later
Most wide open.

I really liked the images you posted, particularly of the church ruins and Levisham. Is the church in Levisham? We lived in England in 80s and plan to return and drive around our old haunts. Maybe we need to add that area too. Thanks for posting.

That would be Whitby Abbey, at the northern end of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Thread moving too fast! Haven't had time or motivation to shoot much lately, but today I brought the a7 and FE 55 with me during a bike ride. It's so much fun to hit the trails with studded tires and just don't give a f*ck about the lack of traction.

Edit: This was shot wide open. The FE 55/1.8:s "lack of character" makes it look like medium format.

Martin, I have been wondering what bag you use now, when riding? I recently picked up a Crumpler Jackpack 5500, which, with the optional cross-strap, I imagine would work really well for bicycling. I haven't tried it yet in that way though. There are also some smaller versions. This one is large enough for the A7 and 2-3 ZF lenses.

[Zeiss ZA 135 F1.8 shots

Phillip,

How do you like the 135 Zeiss ZA, and the handling on the A7/A7R with the adapter?

It's on my list to replace the Nikon 70-200 VRII with D700, mainly for concert shots. I have an A7.

There's still time to decide, I find the A-mount 70-200 too heavy and expensive (and too white, but oh well ), and I haven't seen anything about the E-mount 70-200 F4, so I'm not in a rush (and the first real concerts I'll be attending will be in May 2014 so again, there is time).

Just wondering about other people's experiences

I don't have a dedicated photo bag that works for bicycle riding. And that's a problem, indeed. This time I just stuffed the camera into a LensCoat neoprene pocket and had it in my usual backpack. Which is a bad idea, since I seldom take the time to stop and dig the camera out.

I've been thinking of some sort of smallish bag to fit on my chest, inbetween the shoulder straps. With a smallish lens like the Summicron-C 40/2, I think it could be really nice.

Hmm, the Jackpack fits on the back. It has a large strap which goes around you, shoulder bag style, but the bag is quite small, and you pull it up higher than usual, and then attach a cross-strap which you click in afterwards under the arm (on the same shoulder with the large strap), and then you tighten them both until the bag can't move anywhere. Reversing this works, but makes the tightening awkward, so it probably isn't as good as a front bag.

Unfortunately I don't find a good photo of the arrangement online, but if you are interested, I could make some.

I should mention that although it can fit 2-3 ZF lenses (one on the camera), it is really more suited for just 2 smaller lenses, one of which is on the camera. There is also room for an iPad Air or Mini, but probably not an iPad 3/4.

Edit: Just saw the exif. Fabulous!

Thank you, yep its the FE35. Just a fantastic lens, same for the 55. I took the FE35, FE55 and a whole slew of Canon lenses. 95% of the trip I used the 35 & 55. Sony get stick for the lack of lens options, but to release a 35 & 55 first was just fantastic imho. Fuji could take a leaf out of Sony's book imho!

Lightspeed on this thread now. A couple of new pages every visit. Quality better than ever. Too much inspiration to comment each. This page alone makes me want to get the FE55 though I have the more arty and character-rich Rokkor 58/1.2 and the CY50/1.4.

Whats the feel of the FE55, plastic and light? Or is it good-enough compared to our usual alt metallic brickies?

If I have one lord-of-the-lenses in my inventory it is probably the CY 100/2. Some shots with it today, weather is what it is.
