Good luck , and remember , you can underexpose this sensor to get shorter time than with your canon, no need for ETTR and return with better results due the shorter exposure time in a given "iso", also reproduce high lights which had been clipped with your Canon and a contrast rich motive due the lower DR, but you will certainly discover that on your Sony journey

I just shoot 'em, as I see 'em. No need to over-think this stuff.

News just in, Swedish man discovers Canon sensors aren't the best at everything. World is stunned and an emergency session of the UN has been called to see how mankind can proceed.

well you see it in a contrasty motiv, a motiv with large DR,where you can expose after the high lights to cover full color reproduction in highlights and then go down in levels where 1dx shows noise and banding compare to d800, here you find the 2 extra stops of DR

Regarding bashing canon as some one wrote- no I have both systems and compare sensors, and here Canon are falling behind in terms of DR at base iso, noise and visual banding due the read out stage with longer analog path ways to digitalization.
Simple facts

Why would you buy and use a Canon system when you tell us in every post how bad Canon's sensors and cameras are

Whayne,

You really should publish your "Treasury of Emoticons".

Maybe you should talk to Canon directly. If you are a famous photographer they usually will listen. If you aren't not then maybe you should become one first or maybe Canon DR impedes you to becoming one ?.

Can't we all just stick to the topic about using Canon lenses on the A7R camera. Just use the hide button without the urge to tell the entire world of your intentions as this just makes this great thread into a pile of useless remarks.

And I know this remark s useless...but I felt it needs to be said.

Sorry, Harry. What did you say? I can't tell, 'cause I used "hide me" on you.

(just kidding, I tried but it bounced. )

You might have noticed that 95% of the posts on this thread have nothing to do with Canon lenses. I could speculate on why that is, but I don't like to make such bold and uninformed proclamations. Dozens and dozens of pictures have been taken from flickr (with no proper linking or attribution) and posted here to show the Sony FE lenses and a bunch of RF alt lenses (that also have their own threads on the alt forum). Lots of pictures posted with no comparison photos and claims of how amazing the results are and how amazing the colour is compared to all other cameras.

So...

I might post some, but without the camera it will be tough. Hope it ships after Sunday...that seems to be when the embargo ends in the US. I know B&H and Best Buy shipped some, but it seems like most everyone else is sticking to the 12/1/13 date.

Hey Tim,

You could post some "rough drafts" with one of your Merrills.

It could be a "best before".

I hope my lenses perform as well on the a7R as the one on the Sigma DP2M does.

I'm off for 4 days, my bet is that it will ship the day I go back to work...

Yes, that about sums it up.
I'd really like to know if I can use the 600.4 IS II and 1.4x on the A7r. I don't care about the mystical colr and dynamic range. There won't be so much at ISO 800-1600 where I would be using it anyway.

Yes, I have an electric force field around the Hide Me button on all my posts.

Actually, I'd much rather view images taken by the camera than a lot of nonsense talk. Talk is cheap, images don't lie.

Then I am confused. Why the interest in a camera when you won't use it to it's advantages over your existing gear. I don't think you need to be told the AF will suck with your 600mm and it will be hard to hold. Exactly what would be your interest in this thread?

+1. KKFung, would you help. You are only one FMer for now who can confirm the real world performance of 1DX and A7r in the same canon platform. I am only asking one simple set of 1Dx and A7r wide DR 6400 iso images. Hope you don't mind and million thanks in advance. I, myself hardly use beyond iso400

No problem, will do in this weekend!

Spend more time on Flickr. Lots of images there and no need to talk to anyone or read anything.

Images do lie. We have no idea what another camera/lens combo would do in similar circumstances. So we can assume that they might be great images, but can't know for sure. The A7r would take terrible images in the wrong hands.

Absolutely.
