Spend more time on Flickr. Lots of images there and no need to talk to anyone or read anything.
Images do lie. We have no idea what another camera/lens combo would do in similar circumstances. So we can assume that they might be great images, but can't know for sure. The A7r would take terrible images in the wrong hands.
I'd rather stay on a forum I know and trust rather than a totally free for all image site. And I don't really care what other cameras would do in the same situation...I am interested in the AR7, not another camera as the AR7 us unique in that it has a high Rez sensor and accepts my current load of sensors. There is no other camera that can do this, so I have no I interest in those other cameras.
What about you...what's your interest in this thread?

OK, I'll try again. You missed my point, maybe I didn't explain it well enough.
Looking at a picture from the A7r has little meaning to me unless I can see some sort of comparison to another camera that I might have or be interested in. Without that comparison, how do you know that it will be better and thus worth purchasing? MP is one thing, we can make some assumptions about a Sony 36MP sensor since we already know that it works in the D800. Other things like colour, texture (whatever that means) and tonal range are more subjective and would need direct comparison.
So, if you are interested in the A7r because it does something different than you current Canon cameras, wouldn't it make sense to have comparisons? I've only seen comparisons of resolution so far.
And, most of the images on this thread have been pulled in from flickr by mttran. Very few have been posted directly by forum users. Hence my comment about just looking at Flickr instead of this thread. Posting a random picture from flickr, without proper linking so we can go to the original size and see the exif, is basically pointless in my eyes. Any of us can do a search for A7r on flickr and find the same images.

Personally, if you are truly interested in things like colour and texture, then you must shoot the camera of subjects and conditions you normally shoot. I'm interested in it's abilities to use non native lens including Canon, Zeiss, Sigma and Olympus. Photos using these types of lens and actual feedback on any issues is what I am after. Looking at colours or textures on the net is a futile exercise as there are too many variables totally out of your control. Just rent one and see for yourself.
What I like is the fact this camera is being used with all sorts of different lens from different manufactures and not too many issues are being reported. That is step 1... Now I'll most likely purchase the camera for myself and determine it's colours, textures and noise.

Jctriguy, you are one interesting character. If you don't trust your eyes then what else you can trust. Let say I want a set of A7r and 50L1.0 sample, where do you think I can get that test before investing on A7r for my 50Ls. The closest I can get is this one right here at Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/littlepillow/11072900455/

I trust my eyes, I don't trust my memory to tell me the tiny differences between images that I view at totally different times. I can easily say which image I like when they are side by side.
If you are buying the A7r primarily for resolution, I don't know why anyone needed any testing other than with RF lenses. It was almost a sure thing that all Canon FF lenses would be totally fine on the camera.
If you are looking for better low iso DR or better colour or AWB, in my mind that would need more direct comparisons. I can't see any point looking at a random, one-off shot of a scene from halfway around the world in order to determine the DR abilities of a camera.

I will say something here...images from a sensor that please your eyes won't do no harm to your creation

Essentially online gears appraisals of anything is abstract - it's not until you have the goods in your hands that you can really tell if something is for you or not.

I have bought cameras based on high recommendation from respected websites and knowledgeable users. And very often, I hated those highly acclaimed units. On the other hand, I have also used and loved cameras that others despise.

From what I have read so far, the focus peaking implementation on the A7(r) is no good. There seem to be heavy back / front focussing issues, even with the native FE lenses. Since I only own ZEISS ZE lenses, that kills it for me.

Just received mine !! Wow, it's small lol !
EVF is really nice, really surprised there, I though I would miss my 1DsII OVF, but it's really nice... Focus peaking is nice also, but can be mistaken, it show all edges even sometimes in non sharp zone, so you have to know where focus is, and only then, precise it with focus peaking.
Just a question, I have an exhibition this afternoon and won't be able to play with before this weekend : is there a way to connect and charge the battery with camera on and shooting ? Often did it with 1DsII in studio when all my batteries are low. Each time I try it with a7r I have "usb connecting" on the screen. And god, batteries dry fast !!!
God, it's small !! I've not received yet the vertical grip yet but I think it will be better (bigger, better balanced, and nicer in hand, small finger under the body is really a pain).
Will have to customize it now and become in the habit of using it ;-)
Also waiting for my hejnar Lbracket for the metabone adapter.
But first hand is good, slow to start, slow AF, but responsive, nice liveview, really nice EVF (wouldn't have though saying that!!), and well built. But that thing is small lol !!! Buttons also, using it outside with gloves will be hard ! Ah, and no square grid, really harm. But can put some scotch on live view lol !
Have a nice weekend dudes ;-) My 1DsII is crying ... But sure will keep it for fast autofocus shooting !

At least, that's what I have found.
I hear you. This was the reason why I've skipped and switched to waiting mode on later canon bodies after 5D2. Still waiting though

I'm using eclipse but I don't realize there is e1 and e2, no show on the cleaning liquid bottle label. Just know I'm using the mop #3, for FF sensor size

True, the peaking always doesn't grow on the low contrast/ dim area, ie, people face/ eyes in some condition.
But the EVF moire sometimes can tell where the focus is

I would think there'd be some kind protection over the sensor but honestly, try out a Giottos Rocket Blower. I used to use swabs, but I find the Rocket Blower will get all but the most stubborn dust off a sensor.

Yes really small, a small FF camera, thats why I can use it as point and shoot - now I want to buy the FE28-70 kit lens too
