Some odds and ends from the past month. Some from the kayak, some not. The Hummer is the first of the summer onslaught of Hummers. I have been shooting them with 500 mk2 and wow is that lens a killer for these guys!!
Killer set Tim!! Hard to pick one but #4 is really stunning. Can a hummingbird really look sensual? Terrific detail and pose. Thanks for sharing these. Sergio
good stuff tim! great pink light on the little grebe. the hummer shot is really good, amazing you got so close a wild bird. heron shot is great as well. a quality set!

A super set Tim. These are all very well captured, so just a few comments...
Great light in 1.
Comp and bg in 3 make it a great shot.
4 is my pick - just a great shot, and it looks like he was "inbounds" with the toe drag, but missed the ball.
The GBH in "my" lake have been very uncooperative this year - not 1 nice shot yet this year...
Wonderful set, Tim, and that first one makes me realize how much I miss Seattle! (crisp morning, sun just coming up, kayak). But my favorite is the last image. It's a really beautiful composition, almost zen-like with the interplay of lines and colors. I would be interested to see what it would look like with a bit more canvas at the top. And, I think you may need to start putting extension tubes on that 500 to see if you can get closer to the hummers!
A lovely little collection Tim. PBG pics are always magnets for my affection. Good looking hummer (guessing not from the kayak unless you're using it for a blind). The heron is a beauty.
Thanks for sharing Tim. I don't get the chance to see grebes very often and enjoy viewing yours. I would bet "Dave in LA" would enjoy the greenies. A great hummer shot. I am digging the GBH shot. I call them the gentle giants of the birding world.
