Thanx Mark, Key West must be a nice place to spend your spring break in.
That is quite ascene you captured there . How's that Burbon bar inside ? Any pictures ?
Thanks Peter,
Key West is a great place to vacation since it is much like a Caribbean island, but still on U.S. soil. The colorful nightlife is quite entertaining. The Bourbon bar is even more risqué inside. The "girls" are outside passing out tickets to the nightly drag shows upstairs. No inside pictures, sorry

[Mark- excellent job capturing the feel of SB while still keeping it family-friendly!
Thanks mitesh,
It is a really fun environment there, but it's not all that easy to keep the photos PG rated.

Mark: Thanks for sharing...my memories of Spring Break didn't look quite as "interesting"...

Thanks Edd, it was fun! Great to see you still posting all of your shots in here. Keep up the good work.

Mark - are those real women standing outside the bar or plastic mannequins?
They are real, but not women.
I took only a 5DII and 85 1.2L with me and tried to shoot everything wide open just for fun.

Petkal, you really do know how to put that 1dx to work!
Roger, the camera is so good that it makes many shots quite easy, which might have been impossible with the older generation bodies. The high ISO performance is the foremost new quality in 1DX that helps me very much.
BTW, beautiful flowers and colours.....that is what the real spring looks like, I guess ......in a few weeks we should have it in Ontario too.

HI Roger, lovely spring flower images, keepem coming, I've a slight bias to flora, they are my fav subjects and their variety/colours seem endless, really nice shooting

Prolific weekend for everyone, I see; cormorants, kites, wood hens, and amazing florals from all corners...and ice and snow lingering in the northern climes...love the variety - and Talent!
I worked indoors until near sunset, but had a great time late with some young maple trees in the front yard and the sinking sun.
All with the 100L macro; I've been experimenting with longer lenses and tubes (135L, 200 1.8l, even the 500mm), but I always fall back on the hybrid IS of the new 100L macro. I was using a monopod this evening, moving fast since I was chasing the rimlight before the sun disappeared. Shutter speeds were pretty low some of the time, but there were several nice keepers.

Hi Jerry, that's a great set with the 5D3 and 100L, after enjoying your images I took a double-take at the exif data, 1/100th is cool, but f25 with an ISO of 12800, absolutely stunning IQ, really love the late evening sun for back lighting, well shot

Thanks, Jerry; yeah, I was jumping all over the place with settings; I never really stop down more than f/11 with FF digital, since "conventional wisdom" says refraction looms large after that...but I've recently seen some mighty fine prints at 16, 22, and higher, and I once used apertures that small all the time with film - pursuing depth-of-field - so I was sort of messing around a bit...those sky-high ISO's would never work for anything larger than web display, to be honest, though they do look surprisingly good on the screen...it helps that hardly any cropping was necessary...
I'm going to be out front again Sunday evening, with more time and deliberation, I hope...
Jerry

Jerry, so true, can remember using f22 with Kodachrome 25 for sunsets and even macro flower shots with my old A1 and FD lenses; carried the A1 and 50mm f3.5 mac everywhere, think it went down to f32; I'll have to check...
I'll have to try stopping down the 100L that much in a more controlled setting, see how my 40D holds up at a lower ISO tho, don't think I've shot it over f8 or 11 before, should make for an interesting test
Good luck with Sunday's shoot!
Jerry...the still fingerd one

I did wonder.
Jerry, great job on the Maple seeds (they look a lot like Sycamore seeds to me, i guess the two are related). I'm a sucker for backlighting myself. I'm not sure the very small aperture gains so much in these shots, but its it's nice to know you have the headroom to shoot at astronomical ISO's and tiny apertures for when you need it.

Common grackle is a very aggressive migrant in southern Ontario. They have shown up a couple of weeks ago in fairly large numbers, and they have practically taken over our airspace already. )
(Despite what some bird photography "experts" are telling me, I still believe 1DX gives me waaaay too much "reach". )
