dhphoto,
I often see small groups of caribou in this area during the winter and spring months, but on this particular day I bumped into around 3,000 of them! The entire hillside beyond those animals in the foreground are caribou, and the valley between is full of them, and the plateau behind me, and off to the left and the right of me...there were a lot of them. And there are wolves following them. Found several caribou kill sites. Got two grab shots with the new 500 of a large wolf the next day and got into a howling match with the wolf and a pack of his buddies in the valley below me. I love living here! Glad you enjoyed the photo.

Good Morning!,
Looks like the thread is running quite well with the caribou, kids, flowers, birds, and squirrels that think they are birds.... Thanks to all that are helping to make this happen; please remember to list the "gears" used so folks can get some better insight to the impressive image making that you do...

+1!
The exif should narrow the possible lenses used to two; it was in fact the 85/1.2 L II. Off-camera 600EX/RT at -1 FEC, HSS. [Flash Exposure Compensation, High Speed Sync ]

I wanted to extend my lunch hour today, so I put a 12 mm extension tube on my 70-200/2.8 L II. Gross focusing is done mostly by changing focal length; AF touches up after that. The setup gives a little more variety than walking around with the 100 L macro, though obviously with more limitation in how close you can get.

Nice set Jess - i find my 70-200mm works extremely well with tubes for flowers and butterflies. Focusing with the zoom is a bit weird at first, but not too hard to get used to.

Great bud n flower set Jess, really like the 4th
And as you and Jools elude to, a set of tubes with a 70-200 can be a fun combo, produce wonderful results. I also like using a 300mm as well, both my 70-200 and 300 are f4L ISs and using teles for hand-held macro/close-up shots is a blast. Picked up the 100L IS last December, after using a 100 non-L for over a decade, and really like the newer IS...looking forward to shooting soon.

+1 on that, and JJ's shots of Jennie on the move...
We just had a thunderstorm come ripping through the area, complete with a good assortment of hailstones, driving the birds to take cover. Here are some of the woodland creatures that came in earlier for a portrait session, using the FD 400 f2.8L (12 pounds-manual focus), sitting in front of the old 5D, with the Ee-S (super matte) focus screen. All shot wide-open...f2.8

Excellent shots, from florals and kid portraits, to John's excellent alpine spring scenery.
Edd's cardinal caught my eye with a subtle quality which goes beoynd the usual portrayals of that bird as one sees them on the N&W forum. Clearly, a major subject isolation of the 400 f/2.8 lens contributes to to the special "feel" of that image.
