Love the variety here folks! Peter that last image captures such an inquisitive gaze, its as though your wild friends have become curious of you.
I have a difficult time singling out my favourites but tbartick, that last lone Iris is very, very nice! And mitesh, your images are also striking (that poor fish I'm sure never knew what hit him).
I hate sounding like a broken record but spring is not the thing here yet, though I have evidence of melt and one slow moving bird in flight...

Peter, really beautiful image of the WD Hen, have not seen their blue wing feathers in many of your previous shots, their inclusion here completes this pijun's profile more fully...another crisp/sharp, well posed shot
That Drake shot made me laugh out loud, what a great expression/head tilt...way cool

John, those are fantastic images, really sharp and clear, great compositions
What type of hawks are those...and how do you like the 5D3, 100-400 combo?
Jerry

Those are red kites, Jerry, second largest bird of prey after the golden eagle in Switzerland. These shots were out my window.
The 100-400L is not bad on the 5D3, actually better than on any previous body, however it and the 7D don't really like each other much. Considering its 1998 design factor, it's still holding its own, though I would really welcome a 100-400L II.
Hoping the new f/8 AF firmware for the 5D3 will make a good combo with the 1.4 TC III + 100-400L for a tad more reach.

With disappearance of snow and with emergence of green foliage, the environmental bird shots become easier to make. How many shots of geese flying over a frozen lake can we take before they become ghastly on the eye ?

The above very nice Cormorant shot by Mitesh reminded me to say that they are just making appearances on lake Ontario these days. I enjoy shooting them in flight, but they do require good light, otherwise it's a pp struggle.
In early May their fishing season comes to a climax in our area, and the opportunities for good photography abound, as long as light and weather are good.

Thanx Mitesh....actually that bird has deep dark green sheen on the neck, head and back, depending on the light incidence angle. Sometimes they appear very dark brown, although quite often they just look black.
Naturally, molting and maturity also introduce variability into their plumage colouring.

Peter, that's just crazy sharp and at ISO 6400...WOW!
I really need to upgrade my 40D, below ISO 800 it's 10MP are fine for my flower shots ATM, but when I get back to action shooting, the new sensors really do rock. Larger pixel size of the 1DX does seem to help quite a bit, everything just looks cleaner/smoother...and I don't mean NR smoother...colours, their gradations, shadows are good, crisp detail...the glass doesn't hurt either...yikes.
