What color profile is everyone using? Standard, portrait?
It's the famous...it Depends! The two canned Adobe profiles I use are Adobe Standard and Camera Standard. Adobe Standard has a strong tendency to result in overly magenta/ purple blue skies in some cases. Camera Standard gives much more natural looking blue skies in my opinion.
On a side note, I recently created some custom RX1 profiles using the standard 24 color ColorChecker test card with the Adobe DNG Profle editor and the daylight profile I created was almost exactly the same as the canned Adobe Standard profile. So that profile seems to be pretty accurate under typical daylight situations overall. Sometimes I do think the greens are a bit strong with too much yellow but that's adjustable of course.

What about in camera settings?
If you shoot raw, it doesn't really matter of course. I do prefer using the "Neutral" creative style with contrast all the way down just so the EVF display looks natural with as much DR as possible. I also set a custom K WB of 5600 for daylight with A1 and M1 for the tweaking (but again, that would only really affect jpegs and the EVF display, one can change WB for raws at any point of course). With jpegs, I lke DRO set at LV2 but I'm actually going to stop shooting RAW+JPEG as I never use the jpegs. At first, I just shot both for testing purposes.

Tariq, I've noticed that if you switch to only shooting raw, it takes longer for the review image to load, and it takes longer to zoom into your focus point, oddly. I've been shooting raw+small jpeg for that reason.

After shooting some reference pictures at various apertures and focus distances I have found that the colour shift doesn´t change much with changing aperture or focus distance. Using these reference images with the Flat Field plugin for LR, I get slightly over-corrected results.
After that I did some testing and have come up with a very simple LR-cure for the colour shift: Using an adjustment brush in the centre of the image with the following values works well for me:

Again my photos are piling up and I have no time to process them, but hopefully soon.
Wayne, I too find this polarizer issue interesting. It doesn't sound unrealistic that a cheaper filter can cause more un-eveness (is that a real word..? ) than a high quality one.
twoeye, sorry you're having these issues. Hope they won't make you regret getting the camera.

My take on this shot with the polarizer is that it looks pretty normal given the direction of the light and use of the polarizer. The sky was not uniform to begin with since the light is coming from the top right, evident by the shadow cast by the barn. The top left of the sky is going to be darker to begin with. The use of the polarizer will simply accentuate the contrast and difference that is inherently there. The white clouds being backlit from the sun will also accentuate the effect given the top left has fewer clouds where we see the blue sky.
I like this shot myself. It has a very classic look, almost like a traditional dutch landscape painting. The horse - the one standing in profile- in relationship to the three red barns is perfect from a compositional point of view to me (and the diagonal fence in front brings us right into the frame)....Show more →
Thank you very much! I almost didn't post that shot, but now I'm glad I did, because it's interesting to read everyone's thoughts about the sky that I found somewhat troubling.

P.F., I like the night photo of the Parliament Building.
Ryan, thanks! Nice mood and tones in that set.

A few days ago I took a walk with a friend along a really nice little stream that starts up at a couple of lakes and ends almost in town center. It was a lovely evening, but we had limited time, so I'll go back some other time.
Three weeks ago the lakes were covered in ice and now it's summer already. We have had several days with temperatures around +25C. Crazy.

Ok, I gotta update my scorecard. You now have an RX1? Did you let go of the X100S or do you carry both now?
Folks here change gear too fast for me to keep track of!
EDIT: Nevermind, I saw elsewhere in the thread you have soured on the X100S.
Anyway, congrats on the RX1. Very tempting camera to me.
Yeah, thought that I could sell my M9 and replace it with an X100s to save a bunch of cash, but X-trans drove me crazy, so hopefully I'll be parked here with the RX1 for a while.

I can understand your frustrations with X Trans as well as the appeal of the RX1. It pulls on me, mitigated only by the lack of an integrated viewfinder. At that price, no viewfinder just makes it too hard for me to go forward. But I do love the images from it.

You might be surprised how well a Voigtlander OVF works on the RX1 with center point AF. I'm not really finding that I miss many more shots than with my X100 or X100s, since it only has vertical parallax, and no horizontal parallax. The RX1 AF isn't the fastest, but it nearly always locks on.
