Joe, so glad you and your family are ok. Yes, such a horrible tragedy, my heart and prayers go out to the victims and their families and friends. It is really saddening humans can do this to another, especially innocent random people and especially kids.
Hope your community stays strong through all the healing.
Helena, nature put on quite a light show which you captured so well! I am trying to remember the italian word landscapers use for thiskind of light where areas of light and shadow from the clouds. Chiocuro? Will google it later. Trondheim area looks so beautiful, you are going to make us all want to move there with your great images.

Seeing all of these glorious photographs really makes me want to run out and pick up an RX1 even tho I keep telling myself my present NEX-6 is all I need! Helena your photographs of your homeland are truly spectacular.

Thank you Joe, forestimage and Wayne!
Joe, all of those are really nice! Great light and RX1 has such pleasant rendering.
So glad you and your family are OK! They talk a lot about the terrible event on the news over here as well.

thought of Joe 88 when I heard about Boston explosions the other day, so glad you and family are OK and best to all Bostonians
this camera amazes me as to how sharp it can be. I am still having a little trouble when critcal focusing with say one blossom in a garden of many blossoms, I am now shooting using Center mode and flexible spot AF focusing, that seems to help. I want to use this camera for AF but will eventually try MF. thanks for suggestions. joanlvh

There are some amazing shots here. I must apologize as I have not commented other the "like". I am still wonderfully surprised by the IQ, and love the cam.
I have arrived back from Taiwan, and my RX1 SD card slot is not accepting my cards, so I came back expecting quick turn around with Sony Australia for warranty repairs. I have now spent two weeks with no service in sight other than lip service and supposed reassurance. This has driven me crazy having spent over 4 hours on the phone, and still no pick up for repairs. I have spoken to the pro camera shop where I purchased the RX1, and I'm now requesting a refund or replacement unit! The RX1 is a great cam, but in Australia there is no ability to have your cam serviced here. This is totally unacceptable for Sony IMO!!!

Thanks forrestimage, Helena, Wayne & Joan! Much appreciated
Wayne, Lloyd won't be too happy with that comment but I think he likes the RX1 too
Joan, not sure about others, but most of the time I assign Auto focus to the "AF on" button and set the front dial to MF, this way I use AF to get to near/tack sharp focus and if needed, touch the focus ring and zoom in manually to check accuracy. For casual snap shots, I leave it on AF center point and it seems to work for me. I tend to have more back-focusing errors when I switch to the movable spot AF mode, but again it could be different for others.

Charles, sorry to hear about your RX1 problems Down Under. Hopefully it will be resolved soon, else they should exchange the camera for you. Maybe you can write to Sony jp directly?
For these two I used a Benro tripod that I bought just before the trip. It's only 800g, but can be folded out to 1.3m and is relatively sturdy. Very happy with it so far, but since I rarely use a tripod I felt restricted when composing, so I need to practice more:

Charles, Sony Australia is like a government department, efficiency wise, they are drowning in their own excessive paperwork. I tried to send a camera for a sensor clean and gave up after 7-8 days, sent it to Camera Service instead.
I would call until I got a name, then call every day to politely ask where is my camera please, have you got it done yet? Even better ask for the extension of the techo doing the work. Ask to speak to the sales manager if you get nowhere soon. In large bureaucracies, it is all down to leverage and the squeaky wheel gets the oil!

Joe and Helena, wonderful shots!
Thanks everyone for your concern I have tried it all, until I made some comments on the Sony Australia FB page. This got a response within hours, but still no action.

Helena, very nice night shots of Stockholm. Like the color version of city hall too but prefer your excellent B&W version.
Charles, sorry to hear your troubles with Sony repair services. Hope they fix it or replace it soon!
Hope to get some time to process some of my backlog of images I would like to post. Been very busy at work lately.

Very nice, Jochen.
Hoe far away do you think the power lines are when they finally are not visible? Not bad for a 35mm lens! One thing I have noticed is how good silhouetted dark shapes look against lighter backgrounds. Tree branches in winter especially.

Thanks Philip.
I don't know about the exact distance, but in the full res file the power lines are visible all the way to the edge in the distant background. The resolution of this camera is impressive.
What you notice about the silhouettes is a result of the very good lens. Great sharpness, contrast and low CA.
