Hermann, you sre welcome snd thanks for the kind words.Hope you have a great trip to SF!
Helena, thanks! Gas mask mural contrasts so much with the natural beauty that surrounds that lovely area.
Like the interior shot with the view of outside and the simplicity of the drain pipe abstract.
Jochen, nice golden light backlighting the grasses!
Ron and Darellc, excellent child/baby portraits.
Joan, interesting interior design you captured!

There are some really breathtaking images in this thread. I wish I had the budget to invest in one of these cameras.
It seems like a perfect camera to bring with you everywhere. I suppose to x100s will do the trick though.

Excellent shots everyone! I haven't commented on this thread lately but I have been following and "liking" everyone's pics
Ron, how did you adjust the skin tones on those pics above? What sliders did you use and would you mind sharing? Looks great.
After a few months of using my RX1, I am still impressed with the lens and sensor combo. Would have been great if Sony removed the AA filter altogether.

Thanks mirkoc, I agree square could work. I'm keeping them uncropped more or less to show the images as shot. I was pretty impressed with how much bright sky background information the RX1 retained in the window photos...
Thanks Joe. Love the biker photo and the flare off the chrome at the bottom of the first one. As I think I suggested in another thread, you have to come over here to Friday the 13th biker celebrations at Port Dover.
Slider settings will depend on the photo, light conditions, etc. The shots of the boy looking out the window were adjusted to 8200K WB and -2 tint. I find the RX1, like pretty much every Sony I've tried, tends to bias to an underlying magenta tint and found I was often countering this a fair amount in the WB settings. I also don't like the Adobe Standard profile in LR and instead settled on the Camera Standard setting. Some of the other Camera setting are also worth exploring. With the Camera Standard setting I felt files tended to be fairly conservative, and unlike the M9, was often adding a fair amount of saturation. This might also be a consequence of the wider dynamic range, or of trying to retain the extremes of shadow and highlight details in certain images, which tends to reduce saturation somewhat. I also typically set the red hue slider slightly positive and the orange and yellow hue sliders slightly negative to better blend slight skin tone blotchiness. It will depend on the scene and lighting. And with the window scene, I also boosted orange and yellow saturation (something I almost never do with the M9, at least not yellow). Perhaps in this or the other RX1 thread, Philip mentioned that RX1 files tend to be fairly neutral and respond well to manipulation. I would agree with this.

Joe88, the carpet in the airport shot might not have looked the same with no AA. I am no expert but people who post here who have forgotten more about moire than I will ever know say it is a road you don't want to go too far down, for general photography anyway. Ayler was mentioning last week the D600 (same sensor as a99 and RX1) was showing noticable moire, he found it objectionable. Here is the thread: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1202195
He goes to say he thinks the a99 has a strong AA, but I have read the exact opposite from Mescalamba. I'd be interested to get to the bottom of this if possible.

Ron, a few people have found that Adobe 'overdoes' yellows and sometimes deep red/oranges in Sony files. I also look hard at the balance as I often use colour for effect/contrast to neutral tones; thanks for the magenta info, will keep an eye on that too. The Sony sensors can really push colours hard, but obviously need care.
That kitchen looks much more fun than mine ;-)
Last, I wanted to say the other day but I am loathe to make a point if I have not experienced it - I was not sure we need an ND for a camera with ISO50 and 1/4000 s/speed, even at f2. I won't go into the details but suggest that people try before they buy one, you would have to need to be using f2, and be wanting to expose for extreme highlights, was my thinking. By my calcs these exposure settings should get you to LV15 at f2, three stops below the top end of light meters. Happy to be wrong. Ken Rockwell has a good article on the subject of LV/EV for anyone interested: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/ev.htm
I like the shadow detail and highlight detail in this page's photos, the sensor gives you a lot of scope for this kind of work, which is very rewarding and quite beguiling as you don't expect what you are seeing. So thanks all.

For that much money, it's not very impressive.
i'm quite impressed by what i'm seeing for the money. i actually can't think of anything that looks as good for the same price or lower no matter what the size. both the lens and sensor look as good or better than anything else i can get for $3000, plus it's ridiculously tiny.
