Nice images of Chicago. It makes me hungry for pizza and cold weather!
I just got my RX1 yesterday and after reading a few comments about early run RX1 cameras, I am nervous about the not perfectly round aperture blade pattern. Mine is noticeably lopsided from around F5 and up. Should I care? Obviously, Im going to put it through the ringer over the next week but Im not sure what Im looking for. What symptoms does this "issue" cause?

the only symptoms this causes is slightly lopsided oof highlights at small apertures. mine does that too at f/8 and smaller.
here is a picture that does nothing to illustrate the issue:

Just enjoy it, if you spent time trying to detect each and every possible "issue" with a camera that you read about on internet camera forums you'd never have any time left to actually go shoot the thing.
I mean really, when you think about the big picture (pun....) and all the things in this world to worry about, how silly does it sound to be nervous about a not perfectly round aperture patten at small apertures ?
Its no different than reading online health advise. I was looking on the Mayo clinic site the other day because I had some stomach pain (seemingly just gas pain, TMI... ?) and darn if I wasn't afraid I had 5 different types of cancer lol.
Camera stuff is the same way, people spend all this time doing "test" trying to determine if there is an issue they don't know how to even detect or understand, usually with flawed "test" methods in the first place.
Then what ?
Let's say the camera you loved and enjoyed shooting for 6 months has a slight "issue" as diagnosed by the internet ? Do you sell it ? Can you not shoot it anymore even though you loved the images the previous day ?
99 times out of 100, if an "issue" actually matters, you will see it in your typical photos.
If a lens has an obviously decentered element or other serious defects, you don't need to do anything special to test for it, you'll know it.
Go shoot with a camera for an afternoon and take a lot of pictures, its the best true "test" there is.

I often just carry my rx1. I think this is the first piece of gear which has made me a better photographer--it really pushes me. The limitations of the camera have become points of growth and strengths beg to be refined.

Tried hard to keep ISO down a little here, 4000 was the result, for 1/50s and f2.5. These are inside a traditional gompa kitchen; monks and staff spend a massive amount of time in here in the long harsh winters. The first is of a protector shrine, so hideous to keep bad spirits away that it cannot be looked at; second, animal heads are signs of welcome and also repel spirits.
