I totally understand. I questioned that myself during the show as well. Have to give up, there is no answer. We human did a lot more inhumane thing than this happening everywhere.
Children and family are happy, sometime, people don't think too much more than it apparently is. I don't think those animals got tortured though, trainer seems extremely loving those animal and treat them like kids. I hope I am not wrong.
The whale and dolphin also looks happy communicating with people and trainer offstage as well. Some of them were born there, and may not be able to survive wild anyway. and they enjoy showing, those are very smart creatures.
They seems like us people, work hard for food, in that sense lots of people around world are having worse life than them. ...Show more →

It's the same argument as zoos really. Does seaworld make people more inclined to support protecting ecosystems? Seaworld certainly raises awareness to a new audience and the Orcas are certainly the key attraction.
On the flip side they really shouldnt be there and they can't release them.
So It is not quite as "black and white" as it seems.

Your pictures/PP work (if any) is very very nice and sharp with the EM5/12-50
Thank you very much! I tend to be criticized for choosing the Olympus vivid settings. haha. I love colors, and seem to over do it. I do find the E-M5 to be very sharp!

I wish Sony would make 2 other things in the RX1s:
1) A 85-100 F2 sonnar version
2) A wide angle converter to make the RX1 a 28/24mm
I looooooooove this camera.
The Ricoh GW3 conversion lens actually works pretty well, and gives you about a 26mm equiv FoV.
You do have to stop down a bit to sharpen up the corners, and its a bit heavy/bulky screwed into the front of the lens. It does screw right in though with the 49mm threads.
I never felt 100% comfortable having that much weight on it though as I doubt it was designed for anything heavier than a filter.
Best solution going, but ultimately for me it wasn't worth over $200, risk to the camera, and a big hunk of glass I had to carry around for occasional use, and the limitations of shooting f8 or f11ish for best corners.
It simply wasn't that much wider to make a drastic difference at the end of the day.
I'd like something like 18 or 21mm in order to really warrant carrying an additional body or conversion lens.
Stitching works amazing well in a majority of scenic situations too

Darn you guys, I came into the Sony forum to look at the reception of the a7II and had to sneak a peak in here. I'm at a crossroads right now gear wise, with no DSLR for the time being. Picked up a 7DM2, had focusing issues. Beyond that some part of me won't be content with anything less than a FF sensor, so in a way I was happy that it had to go back.
I'm having fun with my EOS M2, but using it this past weekend at the Longwood Gardens Christmas made me yearn even more for a FF sensor. My wife and I are expecting our 2nd in July so while I'll eventually get a DSLR again for its versatility (fast AF, tracking, low light), it's imperative now more than ever to have a level of IQ that's sufficient for me, in a small package. So that might mean getting a RX1 as a carry around small package and getting the ff DSLR for when I need.

It's funny actually, I have a full frame 1DSIII, and a 1DIV, as well as a full set of fast lenses. That said, the RX1 is just more enjoyable to work with. Yes, the focus is slow, and the battery sucks, but the compact size and IQ make up for that. I don't really find the fixed lens an issue either, just means more foot zooming It is the most enjoyable camera I've ever worked with (Always been a Canon shooter).

I know this is an image thread but what is everyone using for neck straps or carrying the RX1? I feel like a belt carrier might be nice too. Anyone have/use one of those?
