5 day? Can't let it be.
A image from last week. I went to Zion again, this time mainly for family trip. but I save one day for myself went to Antelop Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. RX1 prove itself again.
There is an interesting story:
My wife decide leave my gitzo tripod and RRS clamp on the rest area right before the last steep climb at Angels landing. she was suppose to waiting there with my son(4yo) while my daughter(6.5yo) and me climb up to the top, instead she choose to bring my son to almost 3/4 way meet us who coming down from Top. It drive me crazy to bring my son down from Angels landing, (I have D810 and 14-24 with me) not to mention I heard about my tripod was leave there(alone) at half way. And once I finally come down, the tripod was gone.
It was a big loss but also quit fun experience, whole family go there together enjoying the excitement and accomplishment.
My daughter get a lots of applause as she is the only kid made to the top, not to mention she is only 6 years old, a little girl with strong mind.
The next day in the morning, the first thing I did is went to Walmart page get a tripod.(The only place can get it around) I did get quit a laugh about my weird setup at lower antelop canyon....
I was very frustrated trying to figure out how to set the plastic tripod as I wanted. I went with photography pass with 2 hours and go inside the canyon with my family who hold regular pass. Later on, I decide abandon the tripod total, as it doesn't work for me anyway. Use handhold again with RX1, my old good friend prove itself again, giving me so many nice angle which will never happen with tripod or DSLR.
I can't shoot f16 or focus stack anymore obviously, but I would much prefer some novel composition that nobody with tripod can do than technical perfect image.

Wow, cool story and really nice image.
I would love to be able to go somewhere as nice as this.

It is indeed an amazing place. Will post more images from there later.
In the mean time, I will post a image from Zion. Zion is the best national park for family. Water, Valley, Color, activity, and photo opportunity is infinity.
I will start with a icon location, more later. I have the exact same version in summer. This will serve good memory for my family

That sucks that someone took your tripod up there on the trail. Maybe someone brought it down and turned it in?
Antelope canyon without a decent tripod is frustrating.
How many photogs were on the famous bridge at Zion getting the iconic Watchman sunset shot. Must hsve been > 75 the time I was there for fall colors three or four years ago. Hope to get back there next fall.

I tried park office after two day as I need leave early morning next day for Page. But nobody turn it in, and leave my information there. I don't put high hope there. The funny thing is my wife took all the shoes and cloth and food and lots of water up there, she even brag to me that she carry lots of stuff and ONLY leave my tripod there.
The bridge has only about 20 people I think. I feel this image is a must just prove I went there in FALL
About Antelope, Actually I am quite happy with results. With tripod, I may never be able to think 'free' myself. Shooting there first time with time pressure itself is frustrating enough.

I guess she did not know that tripod and ballhead cost over $1000 new. Main thing is your kids made it up and down safely on that exposed top part of the trail.
Tripods are replaceable. Hope the kid who just fell off a cliff in Bodega bay recovers ok. Tragic case there.
My Antelope canyon experience 7 yrs ago was frustrating as people from the non photo group kept walking into my long exposure shots and my gear got covered in dust as the local indian guide kept throwing the dirt up in the air to help create better sun beams. We had one half minute chance to get a light beam shot and although I was lucky to be in the front row of our group when it happened I ruined my shot by forgetting to close my shutter as I rushed my camera and tripod out of the way to let another photog to get a chance to shoot it before it dissappeared.
Need to go back and spend more time there and also go to the lower canyon too.

Great images, all! Here is one of Emilio, my favourite street musician in Trondheim. He always play his violin with lots of passion... And, yeah, he always reminds me of "Black Cat, White Cat"

Beautiful photos Michael, especially p.164 #6! Sorry about the tripod, but what a great day for you as a family. Your daughter will probably never forget it.
Martynas, nice to see a portrait of him and well done too. Now I want to watch that movie again. So funny and colorful.

Those worked pretty well with the R72, what were the exposure times like ?
I usually use my r72 on the Fuji X camera's as they are pretty sensitive unmounted and you can get away without a tripod, but I'll have to give the Rx1 a try, assuming we ever see the sun again here in Ohio.
I used to use shoot some Canon DSLR's unmodded with long exposure times and usually would get issues with wind causing motion blur, but it kind of added a bit to the surreal nature of the image, as the several minute exposure mixed well with the IR tonality

Way too cold and early (630am and 29 degree's) to get out of bed to watch someone run IMO...
RX1 worked fantastic as always, being small enough to fit into my coat pocket, yet producing some files that certainly have a nicer overall look than had I just used my iPhone.
Events like this are ones that occasionally make me think I should get a lens like the 40-150/2.8 Olympus for the EM-1, and that would certainly work well for some course action shots, but then do I really need those type of shots and is it worth carrying around a camera bag etc ? Not really.
RX1 isn't going to do the action stuff, or cover every facet of the event with a ton of focal lengths, but do I need/want to come home with 300 pics ?
Coming home with 15-20 good quality pics actually ended up more than meeting my needs and will serve plenty of memories

Ah! I don't know what to do! I'm being offered a RX1 for 1320, but don't know if it would be good for my pictures. I mostly shoot random stuff, but mostly capture fast shots with autofocus. I like to carry the camera with me wherever I go, and the RX1 is a nice size! I think I would be nervous to carry it though because it's not weather sealed. I also usually shoot wider than 35mm.
Pictures are very impressive though. Ahh!
I'm having a hard time making a decision because I currently have an Olympus E-M1, and can't afford both systems.

I think... if carrying the camera would make you nervous you should just forget about it. That's a sort of starting point, at least the way I think about my equipment.
Then add to that you usually prefer wider lenses and it should be a given. Stick to the M-1 and use it.
It would be a harder call if 35 (or 17.5) mm was your favourite focal length. Then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the RX-1. I've never used a better 35mm lens (and the Voigtländer 17.5/0.95 doesn't come that close in my opinion) and I have indeed tried several 31-35mm lenses around f/1.4 - f/2.
µ4/3 is a cool system, I have been using it and FF back and forth. Here is a "selfie" taken with the RX-1 that could have been taken just as well, or badly, with your M-1:
