Sometimes it comes down to quality vs quantity. I recently did some family photos with the EM-1 w/ 12-40 and 25/1.4 and also my RX1. Both systems worked great, though the EM-1 has some advantages with is frame rate, AF, range of focal length options etc.
In the end, I had about 10x as many frames with the EM-1, but , my favorite frames were from the RX1. The 35 Sonnar just renders so special, its a thing of beauty. The EM-1 pics were nice, but nothing special, looked like digital files from any modern camera.
You can certainly get a wider range of shots with a m4/3 system, and have access to ultra wide to tele focal lengths, but you also have to carry that glass, and have to ask yourself if the reason for going out is to photograph everything possible, or just to enjoy being out, and perhaps have a small/light camera to record a few aspects of it.
I've ended up having kind of a lousy time on some vacations because I was always hauling around my backpack, my tripod etc, and I always was stressed about being up and in the right spot for sunrise shots, sunsets etc, and then when it was cloudy etc I'd get all discouraged because I put so much pressure on myself to come back with all these amazing photos, like it was my job or something.
I felt like I came all this way, have all this gear, all this money invested, and should be able to produce great stuff. It makes the whole purpose of the vacation feel like its about work.
When I've traveled with just the Rx1, X100 or similar, I was a lot more relaxed and as I knew I could only shoot so many things, spent way more time enjoying just being there and time with family.
When you've got 14-600mm (eqiv) with you, and you feel you need to use it all, you sure work hard trying to find shots that would look cool with all those lenses.
With a nice fixed lens, I shot way less, but I still come back with lots of nice images and memories to share.
Also its really nice not having several thousand images from a week's vacation to have to edit lol
