My 7D is also one of the early ones, and I have had no problems whatsoever with the 2.0 firmware.

I wondered about that. I ordered it the day it was announced and had it on my doorstep in the first week of Oct 2009. It's been almost a month since I installed FW2 and not a single issue, even after extensive shooting.

Ok, I guess we can rule out the age issue. Still not a peep from Canon about mine.

The 7D is quickly becoming the most infamous Canon camera isn't it.
I don't think so at all. I think that it introduced a new level of camera for Canon users and new (at the time of introduction) technologies in Canon cameras, but along with all of that came a lot of expectations both realistic and unrealistic as well as bugs to work out. I think that the 7D has been hugely successful and popular; it's still listed as a top-10 digital camera on a couple of prominent sites (Imaging-Resource, for example) along with many of the newest releases, 3 full years after its introduction. This most recent FW issue has been with the FW, not the camera itself, as is evident in the release of an update to fix the last update. Just my opinion...
2.0.3 seems broken for me It does not seem to 'remember' custom settings done on CF-II & CF-III. It also seems to forget the ALO setting. It seemed to work correctly with 2.0
