Ok guys I know there are a couple of threads on this fw but I thought a thread that could list any issues that any of you have come across might be a good idea.
Like many people the 7D is my only camera . And as firmware is not reversabel I don't really feel I want to junk it and then possibly go thru sending the body in to be sorted .
If it appears the firmware is solid then there would be very few post to this thread I guess
Honestly though, I don't understand this line of reasoning.
If you trust the engineers who brought you the original 7D firmware, and the incremental updates thus far ... Why wouldn't you trust them with this?
These people know what they're doing. They have several $$$ invested into verification and validation, they will not put out a firmware that hasn't been thoroughly tested.
No issues of any kind after several hundred shots. The new firmware works great. No reason not to update. The buffer increase and the ability to limit Auto-ISO are more than worth the price of admission --- which is about 3 minutes of your time. The rest of the updates are gravy, IMHO.
The only "issue" I ran into was that the update wiped out my date and time. Had to reset them. All other camera settings including user and copyright info were preserved.
I'm not sure, long time ago i used 7D.
But i have trouble to upload Peripheral Illum Correction for all my lenses thru EOS Utility 2.11.4
I can only update one at a time and only then lens is on the body, i believe that in 1.2.5 you could upload up to 20 or more, I can to do that with 5D3.

Well how many times have you trusted engineers before and got bitten.?
I know there have been firmware releases to various bodies that have caused issues , and additional firmware releases were required to fix .
Ok my worst experience was not with canon but I installed a new update to my Samsung galaxy s phone that was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. It caused me major headaches the worst of which was the phone would not communicate with the GENUINE Samsung car dock . Samsung's response was that there was no problem they knew of (even denied the existance of the car dock) and that there was nothing I could do to revert to the old firmware.
But as it seems that 7D 2.0 has no real issues I'm just about to install it.
After loading the 2.0 firmware the date time window appears, What is the little "sun" or" light' symbol just before the city name for? It can be changed to on or off /
What is it for ??
Also is there a new manual to exlpain the new functions ?

Pressumably Daylight saving time.
I pressure you have it as well when the clock goes forward an hour in the summer and back in the winter.
I presume the little sun indicates summer time so that when the date of the hour rolls back comes you won't have to do it manually .
I've now done the change, and can report no issues
I did notice a slight change in the behaviour of the buffer though, which makes me think it was artificially held back previously and that this fw just frees what was always there .
I used a pretty slow ultra2 card . Before the update i tried raw+jpeg and it would shoot 7 or 8 shots (6 in the VF) and then stop for a tiny bit and the would go in 2 shot bursts .
After the update the buffer was much bigger (18) but once the buffer was filled it would draw along at 1fps or less. Defiantly not 2 frame bursts .
The first time I used the camera after installing 2.0, I powered up the camera so that I could set the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture for what I wanted to use. I didn't take any shots for a while, and the camera went to sleep (as I had it set to do). A few minutes later, when I was ready to start shooting, I tried to wake the camera up with a half shutter press, and it was unresponsive. I then saw a generic ERR in the top LCD. I was able to clear the error and power up the camera only by pulling both batteries from the grip and reinserting them. Considering that I've had the 7D for just a few weeks under 3 years and had never had a single error code or lock up, I was concerned that I had my first such issue before taking my first shot with the new firmware. I've subsequently shot with the camera for 3 days without any further issues. Thus, for the moment, I'm going to assume that the error was a freak coincidence, but, until I've used it a few more times, I won't be completely at ease.

Download the most recent manual from the Canon site --> eos7d-im5-en.zip.
You'll find two documents inside the zip file:
1. An index to the new 2.0 features (eos7d-im-rm-en.pdf)
2. The updated manual (eos7d-im5-en.pdf)
Flip to page 43 for instructions on the new date/time & daylight saving feature

I've had my 7D for the same length of time and had the exact same experience after loading the firmware. Never ever had any issue prior to the firmware.

Andy
Now, you have me concerned that the error right after installing the new firmware may not have been a coincidence.
