How do you mean, 'not changing'? The euro is 1.2 euros to the pounds. Some countries in Europe will get a higher/lower price than others re the price of the D800.

By "not changing" I mean exchange rate is not changing and it stays the same 1.25 euros. On my original comment I meant that if someone is not happy about the taxes and prices of stuff in their own country, why not order it from another EU county where is lower taxes and lower salary costs.

It isn't linked if that is what you mean, in 2009 it was 0.978 pounds to one euro.

Oh didn't know that, thanks for clarification.

....and then there are the same warranty issues as ordering from the USA.

Not quite. You get a one year warranty instead of 2. It's a european warranty afaik.

Really? I understood it was for lenses but for bodies it was only the country you purchased it from.

If that's the case then buying from Europe may actually make sense.

It certainly is. Anything else would run foul of EU competition law, which is in many ways the most progressive in the world (one of the clear success stories of the EU, in my opinion).

Nikon will even exchange your Danish manual (Denmark has good prices right now) for an English one, as outlined here.

If you wanna order from Greece, I would vote for katerelos.gr or adorama.gr. Both reputable with good prices. Link;

Well this thread had become very interesting indeed. What about good euro dealers for the D4?

That's about £2200 for the D800 which is a £400 saving. But, what about the D4.....?

When did you order?

As a result, Nikon has also announced that it will be honouring the original prices to retailers "on all customer pre-orders placed before 24 March."

They haven't got it listed yet. Adorama didn't have prices for either last time I checked with just a 0 where the price was meant to be. Only reason I'm keeping my order with amazon (it's only £50 cheaper) is because I suspect I'll receive it quicker than if I ordered it from here, and am willing to forgo the second year of warranty that I lose my by not ordering from Greece, but from the UK.

Amen! No better place to put the new camera to the test. A used camera should have a lower customs, I would imagine.

^ What customs? I can't imagine why anyone would declare a D4/D800 they bought in the states when they came home.
