This is Spring today in Bradford, Ontario.....a month ago it was 30C (86F)
yeah it is pretty nuts that the only big snows for the year in many parts were in October and late April and that March included running around at the shore catching rays
I still marvel at the spring metamorphosis of the Long tail duck. I've never never seen it before, although they are a familiar sight to us here in their winter garb.
Handheld 1DMkIIN + 400 f/5.6 wide open.
When anyone asks me how I am "doing" in-person, I always reply "I'm vertical"...the other options are just not acceptable at this time.
Work kind of gets in the way again for a bit; a speaking engagement next week, followed by the trip to Washington then on to Alaska. Lots of air miles with little sleep. I will try to post a few images while "at station" when I can.
5DC, 300/4L IS + 1.4X TC. Failed to get any shots in focus when it took off. Halibut Point State Park in Massachusetts.
One of the first shots I've shared from my new 5D3.. Madaket (West end of Nantucket Island) Looks like summer but the weather was definitely not.. 50 degrees w/30mph winds. Great for kitesurfing with a wetsuit, required a winter parka + hat + gloves to sit still and shoot.
The Sigma 50mm macro is a lens that you almost never hear about, I suspect because of its short FL, but I love 50mm for flower shots on FF, it provides a very different perspective than the standard 100mm macro lenses. Plus, its easier to hand-hold - almost all of my flower shots are hand-held.
Here are a couple birds in flight I shot last weekend trying to learn the 5D3's AF.. it is amazing for these shots against the sky. I still need more practice when it comes to busier backgrounds.

Pigeons are hard! Didn't get a very higher keeper rate with these. Winds were about 30mph for both of these.. the pigeons were moving incredibly fast.
Seagulls.. obviously much easier.
Ask Peter about getting them stuffed and on a motorized string pulley. Then you can post some gorgeous PIF pictures
