This thread is about your photographs of spring themes as well as the Canon equipment you used in the process of such picturemaking.
It is important that any photographs you post are accompanied with as much information as practical on the gear as well as any special techniques used in obtaining those pictures.
In this thread we are again trying to present a healthy symbiosis between passion for gear and gear use for picturemaking. That way, any gear related discussions should be well anchored in the practice of photography and also illustrated by images posted.
A few additional notes:
(1) All genres of photography are welcome as long as there is some sorta link to the season of spring.
(2) Naturally, it matters not if you are a beginner or a seasoned oldtimer....all images are welcome.
(3) This thread is no place to discuss/critique aesthetics, artistic merit and technical quality of pictures posted. There are other FM boards which deal with that. However, this thread should certainly benefit from gear related reviews and discussions, either practical or theoretical in nature.

Let me start here with a picture of a rather universal harbinger of spring.
A wonderfull shot Peter. And thank you for starting the thread.

The lynx and the fox are ridiculous! You lucky dog!!
Thanks, this was the first year they tracked a cross-country ski trail around the park. We went out there yesterday and arrived to dark clouds. 20mins into skiing and the sky cleared for a beautiful morning ski and photo safari
We've got Psych, Safcraft and Geoff going full tilt. Super shots.
C'mon, Ralph, let us see some of your wonderful spring street scenes and portraiture.
Grant, you got some 400 f/2.8 IS + 1DMkIIN spring shots you wanna show ?
The tree swallows haven't arrived here yet but here's hoping they come soon. The next big arrival is the huge swan migration that will be at full tilt at the beginning of April. We get both Trumpeter and Tundra. Tundra counts can be up to 1000 birds at the peak in M'Clintock Bay just 20mins from Whitehorse

That is interesting because a couple of days ago some birders have reported huge Tundra swan flocks moving accross the general Toronto area....some estimates were close to 1000 birds, which I have a hard time believing, but I haven't seen any myself.
Spring has been here going on 2 months it seems. Not much of a winter to speak of this year. Flowers are blooming so I've tried to get out with my macro lens when it hasn't been raining.
One from yesterday evening. Taken with 7D and the 100L. Oh, as for special techniques - I laid down on my belly in the dirt to get this one!

Nice work, our first flowers aren't till May usually and will be the Yukon's official flower: the crokus!
Here we go, 15Bit is here already with his most charming little model, and John is way ahead of us with that pretty flower for which he had to get down and dirty.
Well, for this shot I used my standard marksman's one-knee-down position.
That way not only that I get low enough shooting perspective where warrantied, I also can stabilize any lens well enough, and also relieve the stress/burden of handholding. A wonderfull position for me all around. That is why my standard gear kit always includes at least one articulated hard plastic/foam lined knee pad.
Peter, please stop with the 1DmkIIn pics. It's making me want to go back and continue trolling the buy/sell boards to pick one up. I almost did 3 weeks ago but then the 5D3 came along!! Nice Robin.

Thanx,Geoff......actually, I am hoping that 5DMkIII will finally have a better AF system than 1DMkIIN. If not, then we are all in trouble with our future Canon gear.
However, this is the way I see it, a path to a decent IQ image, from high to low priority:
(1) Accurate focus placement
(2) Good light on the subject
(3) Appropriate exposure
(4) Sufficient shutter speed
(5) Skilled postprocessing and image presentation
(6) Lens quality
(7) Camera quality (other than AF)
Based on this it would follow that the camera body is the least important factor in getting a decent looking image, as long as it can AF. Now, for some photography types, high performing Servo AF is critical, because if the target is not in focus, then nothing else matters. At any rate, that's the way I see it.

Since the 5D3's AF is almost identical to the 1DX, if Canon screwed up this new 61pt system then Canon won't be around by next year. I never followed the 1D3 fiasco so not sure how big of a deal it really was but I'm sure Canon won't stick anything less than a steller AF in its two flagship cameras. Did you order a 5D3?
