Had a spring time visitor at a park near our house today - wish I had taken a moment to adjust and expose the feathers better; but was still a nice change from the usual crowd of Sandhill Cranes and GBH's.
Our Edd is switching from wildlife to theatre and sports photography with such ease.
Well, I am still doing my Longtail ducks in their spring plumage.
Handheld 1DMkIIN + 800L.

They look great from here...hand-held no less And thank you for your comments . I added the 85mm f1.8 recently, and I am enjoying it. I could see it paired with the 35L for a nice compact traveling combo.
Plenty of clear sky today, but strong winds, and the fireplace is still glowing. We dropped to 28*F here last night .
Thank you also for the comments. I really enjoy the 85 so far, can't justify the L version in EOS, as I still have my original FD 85 f1.2L, and the Samyang 85mm f1.4 in EOS (including EMF chip). The 70-200 MkII is so good in so many ways; I never was happy with the version 1 at less than f5.6 at any focal length. It just fills the frame with a quality image, which I think says it all...
Edd, showing off some non-birding talents there. I love the fireplace. Sadly i can't justify owning three 85mm variants and went with the Samyang (also with chip). Good lens, and i don't often miss the AF.
Michael, i also like the blue flower macro a lot. Really great colours.
Jim, i hope you/we will be following the progress of your cute subjects as they grow?
Still struggling into spring here, so we are now starting up our spring routine - trying to convince the ducks they are hungry, and riding our nice new pink bicycle with pink helmet and pink gloves. Both with 5D and 70-200mm f/2.8 non-IS:
15Bit: Beautiful "time-keeper" shots of your daughter...enjoy the time as they grow up so fast. And the fireplace is still running, another cold night ahead...
A few from some time spent on the edge of the swamp. All with 100mm f2.8L IS Macro, on the 5D MkII.
Edd, good results with that 100L lens as it is to be expected.
Here is one long distance shot with 1DMkIIN + 800L.
Those big boys behave very aggressively in the mating/nesting season, and they chase away other swans, regardless of the species, and sometimes geese too. Ducks they seem to tolerate in their territory.

Really nice early light image of the swan (shot hand-held in sitting position ). I've noticed a similar response with Canada geese and ducks also; it must be the "your size is not a threat" situation.
Thanks for the comments on the 100L; my wife wants me to re-shoot them to get more of the detail in focus. So, back out today with a tripod to keep her happy...
