The female Red Wing Blackbirds have returned here (there must have been a hundred males to be seen this morning, all singing at the same time - it was, well, LOUD!)

...and last but not least from this mornings venture; this owl is somewhat of a tourist attraction as nearly every year for the past 20 years a great horned owl has taken residence. Shes been there well past 4 weeks now which is a good sign that the eggs have successfully hatched. I never did spot the male though.

A couple from today. Got treated to a low altitude fly-by of a "juvi" bald eagle while out taking these; it was so close I could hear the rush of the air over the wings. No photos, just the "Wow" factor from being there. I hope it hangs around for a bit, as I would gladly offer up a few good meals from the local menu .
Great to see the new photos from recent contributors...keep them coming
Shot today on the 5DmkII with the FD 500mm f4.5L (manual focus).
Excellent little birdies, Edd......that 500 lens is really doing a good job in your hands.
The finch colours have come out real nice in particular.
Try to get some fresh fish bait and the eagle might return.

Sure hope so!
Hi Peter,
Just came back in after watching the sky-show (Moon, Jupiter, Venus)... getting cold out there again!
Thanks for the kind words: I replaced the original Canon plain glass filters in the three long "L's" here with Heliopan MC Skylite (48mm), and will do the same with the 800mm when I get it back. There is a contrast increase & color shift (warmer) compared to the original mono-coated versions from what I have seen so far; very happy with the results.
