Norwegian spring: The snow recedes (usually washed away by copious amounts of rain here) and reveals a sort of "frozen" autumn. It takes a little while for the flowers to push their way out, and in the time before they do its all a bit bare and depressing.
A couple from today. Got treated to a low altitude fly-by of a "juvi" bald eagle while out taking these; it was so close I could hear the rush of the air over the wings. No photos, just the "Wow" factor from being there. I hope it hangs around for a bit, as I would gladly offer up a few good meals from the local menu .
Great to see the new photos from recent contributors...keep them coming
Shot today on the 5DmkII with the FD 500mm f4.5L (manual focus).

great lens & two beautiful birds to match! hope to add a FD 500 f4.5 to my collection someday
kaycephoto:Kevin, glad you like the birds and the old glass...thank you for your comments . I still have loads of fun with the manual focus setups; my eyes can resolve enough VF detail to make it work.
Tenn.Jer: Jerry, the truth is that I have the 400mm f2.8 mounted to a Jobu gimbal head, as the lens alone weighs in at 12 pounds. I do use it with a RRS tilt head on a monopod when I have taken it deep in the woodlands. Hand-holding it for perched birds was not an option after less than an hour...
A couple from today with the FD400mm f2.8L.
Congratulations on your New Arrival; still one of my favorite lenses of all time, and certainly my most influential, in that it really introduced me to the pleasures and possibilities of wildlife photography. Now, thousands of frames and thousands (and thousands) of dollars later, it still goes on more sunny forest rambles with me than anything else...
