I've been told my 5DIII will be availalbe for pickup at the Camera Store on March 23. Unfortunately, I'm going be in TOronto for work from March 21-23, so will have to pick up the camera on March 24 when I return. I hope it isn't delayed, since i have to fly back to Toronto from March 25-29.

You are so lucky to have that store in Calgary. I went to it this past Thursday for the first time (I've ordered my 5D2 from them in Jan). So much fun to play with all the high-end gear. I tried to get them to match the BH price on the 5D3 as I already know my final exchange rate price. All they would have had to do was sell me the camera at $3800 (basically losing the GST) but they refused. I would like to support them but Canon Canada is screwing them over by allowing the price to be too high versus the US. I save about $200 by going through BH with our current exchange rate. I will support them soon enough though with my upcoming purchase of either the 400 2.8 mkII or 600 f/4 mkII. Amazing that with my CPS I can buy the 400 f/2.8mkII for under $10,000CDN and at BH it would cost me 12,200 USD so add another 1-2% exchange via VISA. Crazy differences on pricing for supertelephotos versus normal lenses and bodies. I have no idea what kind of crack they are smoking at Canon Canada.
I've been complaing about the Canon Canada pricing for the past 20 years. At least in the past they had the exchange rate to hide behind, but now they have no excuse.
I generally only make CPS purchases in Canada, but this time around, i want to get the camera earlier. I also am leary about purchasing a camera that expensive via B&H/Adorma, since returning/exchanging is a huge hassle, since you have to deal with revenue canada for getting the gst back and then need to insure for a return.
I purchased one of my 5DII from B&H and the viewfinder was full of dust. I thought, rather then deal with the hassle of exchange, i'd just get Canon Canada to clean it. Initially, they wanted to charge me, but after a lot of complaining, they did agree to clean it for me - I wish they had refused, because after i got the camera back, there was a lot more dust in the viewfinder then there was when I got the camera!!
The Camera store is great though, they stock a lot of stuff that you usually can only get directly from the manufacturer like SIngh-Ray, Kirk plates and i noticed that they now have Gura gear bags (I had just purchased the Chobe and upgraded my original Kiboko for the kiboko 30L) and pricing isn't too bad since you don't have to pay the shipping.
I just sold my 5DII, 580EXII, so I'm really hoping that I will get the 5DIII as they anticipate on Friday and i really hope they will also have the grip and the new flash fairly soon. What I'm disapointed about is that the Really RIght L-Bracket, which I was told was supposed to start being manufactured at the end of March, now probably won't be available until the end of April, according to the RRS site.

I just reserved my Mark 3 at a local store for delivery Tuesday (in my case Friday since I'll be away). the owner said his shipment left SF Friday.

Yes I was so surprised to see the Gura Gear bags there but the guy said they were brand new to the store. I've always been looking at these bags but man are they nice in person. Still look a little too "camera-bag" and square but man the finish and quality is amazing. When I do purchase a supertelephoto lens I will probably go for the 30L Kiboko. The Chobe looked sweet as a carryone bag for laptop and other stuff on the plane with the Kioboko used for the main gear and just put that in the overhead with the Chobe under the seat. Sweet but damn expensive setup.
I hadn't checked on the the RRS bracket lately (I have preordered) sucks that it won't be for a while. I will try out my 7D and 5D2 brackets but I doubt they will work.

I got a really great deal on the Gura Gear bags. they had a promo over xmas, where you got the Chobe for $150, with the purhcase of the Kiboko 30L. I sold my old Gura Gear bag that I had used for 3 years for around $200, ,so it was a pretty reasonable upgrade.
When I pre-ordered the 5DIII L-bracket, I was told that they were going to start production at the end of March, now it looks like they won't have the design finalized until after March and shipping won;t be until the end of April. I'll probably buy a generic arca-swiss camera plate that will fit both the 5DIII without the grip and with the grip, as well as the 1DX. I'm hoping that I'll get my 5DIII l-plate by the time the 1DX comes out and then use the arca swiss plate until the L-Plate for the 1DX is ready.
I have the sales person @ the local Creve Couer Camera here in St. Charles, MO bring one over tomorrow for a hands on @ lunch.
Just an FYI, the Main store in Creve Couer, MO has both body and kit IN STOCK - IN STORE !!!

I just got back from our local camera store. They received their first order and I picked up my 5D3 body. No word yet from my kit order from Amazon.
Nope. If you look at the trends- a lot of stores in CA are receiving them. Few stores in the midwest received them. Maybe there is a trend (not sure). Too bad BH is in NY!
I've just heard today that my preorder (UK) is here Now all I have to do is wait - as patiently as possible - until Friday when I will go to collect it.
