I personally will wait to see how a 22mp 61pt af 5d3 works, if it has good DR and no banding I may buy it.
I would buy that camera, presuming the focus system was good.
All these random camera specs that everyone's pulling out of their butts is making my head spin. I'm just going to wait until Canon announces the rumored camera(s)

It has lasted 10 years and 1D IV is not stopping production any time soon, it's a continuing model and they'd be insane to not consider a replacement model that was still around the $5K range whether FF or APS-H IMO.
did you read the 1dx announcement, or chuck's comments thereafter?

For precisely that reason, Canon management would refuse to do it. Perhaps that will change, with the recent exit of the Canon president.
Lets hope they have something in the production pipe. If they are at the drawing board right now....

Did you read the fact 1D IV is not stopping production! So in what way yet is APS-H a dead duck? Canon might just face enough of a backlash over the 1D X to realise the sheer stupidity of their ways.

Please don't mistake Canon for Nikon. Canon is a large conglomerate with many divisions. It's president will not make any difference to the direction of its APS-H format no more than what the US President would make any difference to whether the US Coast Guard should merge with the Navy.
On topic. With the CR's predicted spec, please humour me why does the 5d3/x should be priced $500 more than a D800?!

Mr Uchida's replacement by the even older Mr Mitarai should not instil confidence of any change in thinking at Canon. It'll be a few years before we see younger blood in charge and at the moment they are unknown quantities.
We've been sent (thanks) some more details of the upcoming camera:
"Although the AF in the 5D2 replacement is based on the same sensor layout as the 1D X, it is a 'simplified' version.
The dual card setup of the camera is specifically aimed at video users
Just as with the 1DX, clean HDMI is possible."
True to form, it looks like Canon won't be equipping the $3500 with its top of the line AF. No doubt the AF will be an improvement on the 5D2 but dang, for $3500 I hope it's a vast improvement.

hmmm, the 1DX does not have clean (non-overlaid) HDMI output.
