Very good questions, as a sports shooter I just shake my head.
Or why not update the ancient 300 f/4L and 100-400L. Both fabulous lenses but could be so much better. In fact I'd like to see the 100-400L become a 100-500L.

Oh, I'm calm. I've been around long enough to fully understand the ludicrosity of it all (is that even a word?). I just picked up a 5D MkII, so I'm not in the market for any of this (even though the radio-flash thing sounds attractive, replacing 3 flashes does not). Call me a wavemaker if you wish, but speculation is certainly entertaining.
What kind of ridiculous sensibility is this?
Buying a 5D2 near the end of a cycle within weeks/months of a 5D3?
Risking a na na, na na na from hundreds of Fredmirand.com'rs when they get their 5d3s?
Actually saving thousands by not keeping up with the Jones's.
We don't need any sensible minded people coming on here and ruining our rumour hounding by bringing up Silent Movie Era cameras like the 5D2 thanks.
I do not need, but I do want to know now what is coming. And when.
If my 5D II would break right now (fingers crossed it will not) There is no other camera in the market that I would purchase than a new 5D II. Good choice, Dan!

It appears one will be 4500 and the other will be 2650. The x gets 61 af pts the iii gets 19. The iii gets digic 5, while the x gets digic 5+4.
Sort of hoping this is wrong lol. Or I'm reading it wrong.
36. And yes. A 24 MP D800 would have been great and a possible choice for me (at ISO 12.800/25.600 native). And I guess for hundretthousands of Nikon shooters.

R.
+1
24MP and 8fps with nice ISO 12800 would have been killer combo for D800 given it has D4 AF system.

I still think the next 7D (whatever it is called) will step into the 1.3 crop role and the xxD (and Rebel line) will carry on the 1.6 factor.
That is too sensible an option fro Canon to entertain. A new APS-H super camera with say 18-20MP, 10fps, vastly better AF would sell up a storm.

Gee, what about all those EF-S lenses current 7d owners have (like the 17-55IS)?

APS-H is dead - it was a short term solution
Who is to say that Canon WON'T release an xxD with 7D like specs? 45pt AF in the next 70D (or whatnot) and 19pt for a Rebel. They (Canon) HAVE to step up if they want to be competitive. If I had the money, I might even jump to Nikon if Canon didn't produce..

It has lasted 10 years and 1D IV is not stopping production any time soon, it's a continuing model and they'd be insane to not consider a replacement model that was still around the $5K range whether FF or APS-H IMO.
